The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 354

Marian emerged from the living room of the Ronan' household, heading towards the yard. Just then, Janice appeared from the storeroom, struggling with a heavy cardboard box.

Marian froze at the sight. She recognized it. It was the package she had bought for Cordelia.

Janice seemed to have difficulty carrying it, indicating that there was still something inside. Moreover, the box was still sealed, suggesting that its contents had not been used.

Marian gritted her teeth in frustration. She had gone through so much trouble to pick out the perfect gift for Cordelia, only for her kindness to be thrown back in her face. She had assured Cordelia that she had no ulterior motives, unlike Samantha, but Cordelia had refused to believe her.

"Mr. Colby, wait a moment. I've forgotten my lipstick," Marian said. With that, she returned to the living room.

The housekeeper opened the door for Marian. Upon entering, she immediately spotted Cordelia and Ronan entwined on the couch, lost in a moment of intimacy.

Ronan had one arm wrapped around Cordelia's waist, a knowing smile playing on his lips as he whispered something to her. Cordelia was disgustingly playing the role of the doting girlfriend. The necklace that had once adorned Cordelia's neck was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh, Mr. and Mrs. Evans," Marian began. "I can't find my lipstick. I think I might have left it on the couch." She then started searching in the crevices of the couch. All the while, Ronan watched her intently.

Unable to find it, she said, "I'm sorry for the interruption, Mr. and Mrs. Evans. I should have been more careful. Goodbye."
