The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 382

Looking back on memories of Logan, Cordelia felt no pain anymore. Perhaps her affection had moved on to Ronan. Mentioning her past lover brought no feeling to her anymore.

"Is that so? Volunteers often face all sorts of situations," Petra said, her head bowed in thought. "Alright, I won't bother you anymore. I can't help with your predicament. Maybe you can find another way."

Cordelia gave a bitter smile. What other way could there be? Ronan knew she didn't have any photos of him, and he was determined to make things difficult for her. She was helpless.

She had thought that taking care of a child from afar wouldn't be a difficult task, but now, the mere act of viewing a photo of her child had become a great challenge.

Cordelia was anxious. She sent Janice a message on Messenger. [Janice, I can't find any photos of him anywhere. I want to see my child so badly. What should I do? Can we video chat so I can see him?]

[Cordelia, I mainly handle the kitchen. Jessica is the one who looks after the child all day. If I video chat with you, Jessica will find out and tell Mr. Evans, not to mention Mr. Evans' parents. It's not realistic. Cordelia, Mr. Evans wants you to come back, don't you get it? Why are you so stubborn?]

Cordelia didn't want things to be this way, but she had her reasons.

She thought to herself, “If Ronan truly forbids me from seeing my child, I will go home for a bit. I could then tell him about the threats I have received. After all, discussing such matters over the phone was too risky.”

Janice was also worried. She understood a mother's heart and thought of taking a photo of Ronan for Cordelia. But she was wise enough to know that with Ronan's cunning ways, doing certain things could be pointless, and even result in a harsh backlash.

After Ronan returned home, he sat on the living room couch.

"Mr. Evans," Janice said to him. "Cordelia doesn't have any photos of you. Can you find another way to let her see the child? She is the mother, after all."

"Hmm, she doesn't have a single one?" Ronan asked Janice calmly.

"If it involved the child, she would have given it to you if she had one."

A slight smirk appeared on Ronan's lips. Cordelia was truly heartless; she did not even have a single photo of her man.

"Well, if that's the case, I can't do anything," Ronan said, heading for the stairs.

"Mr. Evans," Janice called out to him just as he reached the foot of the stairs.

"What is it?" Ronan turned around.

"Please, give Cordelia another chance. She's a mother; I understand her pain." Janice was torn between her anger at Cordelia's coldness and her sympathy for her not being able to see her own child.

Ronan slightly squinted his eyes. "Alright, since she doesn't have any photos of me, she should at least have some of herself. She can exchange her own photos for the child's. However, this time, it's ten of her photos for one photo of the child."

"That can be done!" Janice was overjoyed.
