Once there was a target for inspection, the investigation was swift. Five days later, the assistant handed Ronan a list of the most frequently dialed numbers in Tabitha’s phone records. He also gave Ronan the information of the owner of a car with a disguised license plate.
Both the disguised car and the phone number pointed to the same person. This person, apparently a henchman, was likely working for the real mastermind behind it all—Alana.
“Alana?” Ronan was taken aback by this newly excavated character.
“Yes. Alana has also given Samantha a new antagonist role in The Grand Hotel. Given Samantha’s experience, this is highly unusual,” the assistant added.
“It seems I need to meet this person,” Ronan said. “Is she in the country?”
“Yes. She has been staying at the Azure View Hotel in The High Society. But be careful, Mr. Evans, the Keegan family has deep roots,” the assistant cautioned.
“How will I know if I don’t try?” Ronan retorted.
He was actually relieved to have discovered Alana. At least, Cordelia’s sudden departure to America wasn’t without reason. She had a home and a child in her eyes but was forced to leave urgently due to the pressure from these troublemakers, causing Ronan to misunderstand her for so long.
Perhaps she was trying to divert danger away from Ronan and their son Callum. After all, the last time Edwin’s ten million dollar investment was basically a wash, and she was scared.
And The High Society was one of the shows Alana was producing. Everything was falling into place.
The next day, Ronan appeared outside Alana’s presidential suite at the Azure View Hotel.
“No need. To prevent you from retaliating against me, she’s really gone to great lengths. I didn’t know before, but I do now. If you dare touch my people again, let’s see what happens. I’ve taken out a high-value insurance policy. If there’s any financial loss or personal injury, I’ve already made a report with the police and the insurance company. They’ll come straight to you. What do you think?” Ronan leaned in close to Alana. “Or, I could go to the press. Document everything you’ve done. How’s that sound?”
A fleeting grimace of embarrassment flashed across Alana’s face before disappearing. She sat back on the couch with her tea, staring into the cup as if lost in thought.
Indeed, if her actions remained unknown, she could operate easily from the shadows. But once exposed, she would be restrained. And the one restraining her was none other than the famous Ronan.
“Why bother?” Alana said at last. “Cordelia is just the daughter of a lowly assistant of mine, Allison, who came from the countryside. She flirted with August, a famous action star before. Allison ended up getting August drunk, and they ended up having a one-night stand. She gave birth to Cordelia out of wedlock, which was a huge scandal at the time. To avoid disgrace, she sent Cordelia away. But this bitch stole my emerald rings, giving one to Cordelia and keeping one for herself. She intended to reclaim her daughter once she had made her fortune.
“August was the man I loved. I was infatuated with him. But he was seduced by my assistant and even fathered a child with her. Was I wrong to seek revenge? At first, I thought Samantha was wearing the ring, and I sought revenge on her. Only later did I realize that I had targeted the wrong person. Cordelia was the real offspring!"
