Nicole hung up the phone decisively.
She wished she did not make that call.
Luca was a little surprised to see Eric following them, but what was even more unexpected was that Chance got into their car.
Fortunately, Eric did not sit in their car. Otherwise, Luca would feel awkward as he did not know how to address him.
However, come to think of it, Eric’s opportunity came now that Clayton was gone.
Thus, Eric would certainly find a chance to get close to Nicole.
That was justifiable.
What a pity…
If Luca could see through Eric’s motive, Nicole could too.
“Let’s go to KFC.”
“Okay.”
In the car, Chatty was talking to Fischer in words that others did not understand.
Nicole really did not understand what they were saying. Levi covered his ears as he was not interested in understanding their conversation.
Chance wanted to know what they were talking about, but he could not understand what they were saying.
It was so complicated with so many twists and turns.
Nicole thought that Eric would not join them.
As a result, when they arrived at KFC, Eric was one step ahead and was waiting for them there.
He even cleared the restaurant.
It was supposed to be busy because it was dinner time, but there were no other customers in the store.
Nicole was shocked for a moment, and Chatty ran in without knowing anything.
“Mommy, I want to go shopping…”
There was a shopping mall behind the KFC, which could be accessed through the back door.
Nicole paused. “Let’s eat first.”
Chatty nodded.
Nicole took Levi to order their food, while Chatty, Fischer, and Chance were playing downstairs.
Eric was outside, and he came in after he finished a call.
He looked at Nicole’s back with a smile.
Then, he saw Chatty and Fischer glued against the glass window of a shop selling figurines. They looked so fascinated.
Eric suddenly thought of something and walked over.
“Do you want it?”
Chatty nodded honestly.
Eric looked gentle as he said generously, “Go and pick one. I’ll buy it for you.”
Chatty paused. Her big eyes lit up, but she shook her head.
“My daddy will buy it for me.”
Eric was silent for a few seconds before he said, “I’ll buy it for you on behalf of Chance. He’s sorry that he made you upset. He’s at fault, so choose something!”
Chatty nodded and happily pulled Fischer over.
The store attendant naturally welcomed such well-dressed children.
“Welcome!”
Chatty happily took the new Ultraman figurine.
Fischer also took another figure that Chatty liked.
Just when Eric took out his card to pay for it, Chatty took out a black card from her pocket and looked at the store attendant.
She said in a baby voice, “Miss, please swipe this card.”
The attendant was shocked for a moment and looked at Eric.
“This card…”
Chatty said, “My daddy gave me this card! He said that I can buy all the good things with this card.”
Eric naturally recognized this card because he also had one.
He thought, ‘Ugh… Clayton still affects our lives even after his death…’
He felt annoyed and took it back.
“Use mine. Chatty, I told you that I’ll buy it for you.”
Chatty shook her head.
“My daddy said that boys who take the initiative to spend money on me aren’t good people!”
Thus, she always paid for things when she went out with Fischer.
Nicole really drew a clear line between them because she did not want anything to do with him.
When they left, Nicole was on the phone with Logan.
Chance wanted to say goodbye to Chatty, but Fischer urged him to go home with an annoyed expression.
Chatty wanted to go back to play, so she just waved at Chance and got into the car.
Chance followed her and was reluctant to part ways.
“Chatty…”
Chatty, who had just buckled her child seat belt, looked down at him.
Chance looked at her nervously and blinked his eyes.
“Chatty, are we good friends now? Can I go to your house to play with you next time?”
Levi was Chance’s best friend, Chatty’s mother was his favorite aunt, and Chatty was his favorite sister.
Their family was everything he envied.
For a child who could not get any warmth, he had a strong attraction toward the Stanton family.
Especially when he saw his dad during this meal. His dad’s attitude toward Chatty was so warm and amiable.
Chance had never seen his dad smile before.
His dad would only treat him coldly and tell him not to cause trouble or tell him to find a servant if he had problems.
They did not even sit together for a meal once a month.
However, when Chance was injured in school today, Eric came over in person.
This was a pleasant surprise to Chance.
Thus, today was the happiest day of Chance’s life!
Chance thought, ‘If I can become good friends with Chatty in the future, will Daddy treat me better?’
Chance looked at Chatty excitedly.
Fischer poked his head out and blinked.
“Chance, do you admit that you deliberately pushed Chatty into the water at your birthday party?”
Fischer would never forget that scene until his death.
Chatty had long forgotten about this. She looked at them with big eyes and blinked in confusion.
