The Devil Wore A Brown Suit novel Chapter 26

 “Sam, do you think she is coming back?” KoKo asked as he sat at the bar.

The three misfits sat at the bar waiting to hear anything about Perdition. She left with Chaos six months ago. She has abandoned them.

“She will, KoKo.” He says. Sam continues to wipe down the bar. Sam only wanted to help Perdition. He hoped by not telling her what her true purpose was and how she got out of the void he was protecting her.

She wasn’t as weak as he thought. Sam had taken care of the unholy ones for so long that he sometimes forgot that he cannot control every detail of other people’s existence. The truth was, he hoped she would come back, but he understood if she rode off into the sunset with Chaos.

Mayhem felt that he had failed everyone. He could’ve spoken up in the beginning, but he was focused on his children. Mayhem only wanted them back. His heart was in the right place, but honesty would’ve been the best course. 

 “We failed her,” Mayhem says.  “No. We failed Camilla Dawn. We have to focus on making that right.”

      The Frog Pen Bar had not changed in the last six months. It was all still the same, except for the fact there was a demon that had taken up permanent residence. KoKo stayed behind to attempt to fix this mess. It was a mess.

Perdition was gone. She had most of her memories back. She had spent the last six months trying to locate her mother. She no longer was concerned with the topside or their problems with Damnation.

“Let it burn,” she told Chaos. She no longer believed anything a human said. She was done with all of them. It thrilled chaos to have her. He had been in love with her since he first saw her in the void.

He was able to manipulate the stone to give her only the memories he wanted her to have. After all, he was the one that took her memories. He needed time to set the stage before she arrived topside. He needed the time to make sure he was the one who walked away with her. 

     Sam Gallows wanted to save Perdition. He wanted her to have everything a queen should have. He knew she had a purpose on topside. He knew she was supposed to lead them. He could only imagine the lies and twisted truths Chaos was stirring up.

Chaos had always been a selfish asshole. Mayhem was a calm and caring soul. He had hoped Mayhem and Perdition would work things out. He knew it would be hard to forgive him for walking out of the void and leaving her behind. It did not matter what the reason was.

Mayhem left her behind. She would never forgive him. Mayhem lied to her. In Perditions mind, Mayhem was the enemy. 

     Sam Gallows knew how hard the void could be on an individual. It was a hell worse than actual hell. It was a place made especially for the descendants of the watchers. It was and still is a place to torture souls that could prevent the apocalypse.

The descendants had a lot of power as a group, but they needed their queen. Their queen was currently plotting to kill them all.

Ryan and Sunnie were on the run, hiding from Perdition. They knew with her memories back and all her power she would kill them. Daniel could not protect them from her wrath. Perdition was much stronger than anyone thought she would be. She had both the power of the apple and the power of the Judas tree. 

 Sam knew it would take everything in him to show Perdition exactly the right path. He wasn’t sure if he was the right person for the job. 

     Maybe JJ could help me, he thought to himself. JJ knew more about the void and the powers Perdition had than anyone else. Yes, JJ, he thought as he kept wiping the bar in the same spot over and over.  

     Sam met JJ when he first came to topside. Sam was married to Camilla Dawn at the time. She was a vibrant young witch, and they were very much in love.

Sam met Camilla at a celebration for unholy ones. They were young and madly in love. Sam stood by Camilla as she became obsessed with dark magic.

Camilla Dawn was powerful, but her obsession with the void and dark magic ultimately landed her in the void with Perdition.
