The Devil Wore A Brown Suit novel Chapter 32

Mayhem and Tiffany arrive at Mrs. Bee’s Bed and Breakfast in the Marigny part of town.

“This is so cool,” Tiffany says as she gets out of the car.

“We aren’t here to site see Tiff. We have shit to do.” Mayhem says as he exits the vehicle and grabs two bags from behind his seat.

Mrs. Bee comes out of the narrow side door. “Hey loves.” She says as she tries to get to them without causing too much of a commotion.

Mrs. Bee was getting on up in her years. She still ran a tight ship, and she loved her little B & B. Her son-in-law ran the bar. She loved it when Sam was in charge of it. She guessed Ernie was okay. He was good to her daughter, and he seemed to love the bar.

The B & B had a small staff, and she liked it that way. She did not want a bunch of people running around trying to tell her how to run the place. She wanted things done her way, and her way was final.

Mrs. Bee was a New Orleans staple she could be seen riding her bicycle almost every day. She loved the tourists, and the tourist loved her. There were better places to stay and better bars to visit, but you wouldn’t get taken care of better anywhere else.  She knew exactly how to take care of every visitor to her little B & B.

“Mayhem, I just heard from JJ.” Mrs. Bee told them. “They are on their way with Camilla Dawn, Key, and both babies. I have y’all rooms ready. I’ve already told everyone they better not be too loud around the rooms for the babies. I will throw their ass out.”

She meant every word she spoke. She loved this place, but she did not have a love for money. She could lose a night's rent if they didn’t follow her rules, and it would not bother her one bit.

“Thanks. Mrs. Bee. Have you met Tiff?” Mayhem says.

“Yes, I believe I did back at the bar. Y’all come on and get your keys. Angie is up here at the desk. Let me see if I can light a fire under her ass and get your keys.” Mrs. Bee says.

“I bet you can, Mrs. Bee,” Tiffany says.

They followed Mrs. Bee back through the narrow doorway into the lobby. Mrs. Bee had to turn sideways to get in the narrow door.

“Ridiculous. I should’ve knocked this damn door out years ago.” Bee mumbles. The two laugh at her and follow her on into the lobby.

“Angie, you got their keys ready?” she asks a petite girl with curly blonde hair.

“Yes, I have all the keys ready. I am ready. And I did every single thing you asked me to do, Bee.” She replies.
