"Virginia!" Steve paused before continuing, "She's a powerful woman. If she takes her anger out on Ranita..."
Steve looked over at Ranita but found that she wasn't there.
"Where is she?" Brendon furrowed his brow and was about to go look for her when Shannon came running over, panting and calling out to him in a sweet voice, "Brendon!"
Suddenly, Shannon pressed herself against his chest.
Brendon pulled away and said with concern, "Shannon, aren't you feeling well? Don't walk around like this. Go sit down and rest."
"Brendon, you really care about me! I'm so touched!" Shannon blushed and acted coyly which made Steve roll his eyes in disbelief.
"You guys talked huh?" Steve turned around to leave.
"Steve... he left as soon as he saw me. Does he not like me?" Shannon complained pitifully.
Brendon felt annoyed but patiently explained, "No. He said he wanted to go talk to some friends."
"You should rest now." Brendon tried to get away from Shannon so he could find Ranita but she grabbed onto his arm saying, "Brendon... I'm not tired yet. I want to talk more with you! The doctor said that even though it's early on in my pregnancy, the baby is healthy inside of me. I'm not fragile either so don't worry!"
Shannon spoke softly while leaning closer towards Brendon which drew the attention of many people present who watched them curiously or knowingly.
Ranita had originally planned on sitting where she was but unfortunately saw Shannon walking towards her so she decided to leave the banquet hall for a bit instead.
She found an empty corner where it was somewhat quiet despite the faint sounds of noise nearby.
Ranita had just settled down when a tall figure emerged from the corridor, dressed in a suit that stood out from the rest of the attendees, immaculately groomed, exuding an air of workplace sophistication.
She looked somewhat familiar.
