Shannon was dirty, and Brendon was in a bad mood, so he didn't bother eating and left with Shannon. As soon as they left, Ranita leaned back in her chair feeling a chill down her spine. Steve rushed over asking, "Ranita, are you okay?" The restaurant manager had sent someone to explain the situation to him but he still arrived late. "Sorry, I received an emergency call," said Steve.
"It's not your fault," replied Ranita looking up at him with eyes that seemed to have lost their sparkle and were now darkened.
Steve wanted to comfort her but didn't know how. He knew about Ranita's feelings for Brendon as an outsider looking in but unfortunately Brendon...
"Dr. Pearson, I'm fine," continued Ranita calmly with starry eyes that looked like they had fallen into the desert leaving only darkness behind them. "If you're busy, then go back to the hospital first. I'll go home later."
Steve did need to go back to the hospital but he was worried about leaving Ranita alone, "Let me take you home before going back."
Hearing this made Ranita realize that Steve must be busy with work so she quickly responded, "You must have urgent business if it requires your attention. Hurry up and leave! Drive safely."
Steve pushed his gold-rimmed glasses up his nose, helplessly saying, "Then I'll leave first. Get some rest when you get home. Call me if there's anything."
After walking two steps away from her, he turned around again handing his thin jacket on his arm over to her saying, "It gets cold at night, so don't catch a cold."
"Thank you, Dr. Pearson," smiled Ranita gratefully showing appreciation for having friends who cared for each other.
But just minutes after Amiya called.
"Ranita, come pick up your things right now or else I'll throw them away!"
Amiya had been humiliated by Ranita last time they met, which made Amiya even more hostile towards her than before.
