Grady had a knack for medicine himself and could still recall those few remarkable prescriptions Grady brought over years ago—formulas so intricate that only a true expert in alternative medicine could create them. So when he bumped into his old pal today, the pharmacy owner naturally wanted to reconnect.
Grady got the hint and, after a brief pause, said, “Sorry, the healer isn’t with us anymore.”
Even though someone had hinted recently that Nellie might still be alive, there was no telling if it was just a trap.
“Really?” The owner was caught off guard, “Not around anymore?”
Grady nodded, not offering any more details.
The owner felt a pang of regret hearing this, but given the healer’s reputation and age from over a decade ago, it was likely he had been quite elderly then. Now, so many years later, it wasn’t surprising if he had passed away.
“Thanks for letting me know,” the owner said to Grady.
“No problem.” Grady pressed his lips into a thin line as his phone rang. Seeing it was Cole, he grew serious, nodded to Mirabella, and stepped outside to take the call.
The owner was just about to swipe the card when it was snatched away.
“Tell me your friend’s symptoms, maybe I can help,” Mirabella said in a laid-back tone, her slender fingers holding the gold card.
“You?” The owner was taken aback.
Mirabella nodded, “Yep, me.”
It wasn’t about the money; it was about a healer’s duty to help others.
…
A few minutes later, Grady came back from his call.
Mirabella put down her pen and slid a note over to the pharmacy owner. “If it doesn’t work, feel free to come back and ruin my reputation.”
