The Enigmatic Return (Neera and Jean) novel Chapter 58

He still looked unbelievably handsome, even if he was lying on the bed. He was in gray pajamas, and some of his buttons were undone so that she could see his cheekbones and chest. He was sexy and attractive. He's indeed handsome; he looks good in any position.

Neera knocked on the door and only entered after hearing him say, "Come in."

She went to the bedside and asked calmly, "I heard that you're feeling unwell."

He slowly opened his eyes and looked at her without moving his body. "Yes, I'm having a headache." He spoke in a low and nice voice.

She had strange feelings listening to his voice, and she stepped closer to him and said with doubt, "Give your hand to me." He did as she said.

She was diagnosing his conditions, and she thought that he was strange. It seemed like he was normal, but something was off. Yet he only insisted that he had a headache. She pondered for a while and concluded that it was caused by external factors. "Overall, your body seems fine. Maybe your headache is caused by the stress of your job? Severe stress is known to cause headaches. You should be fine after resting for a night." And she suggested, "I don't think you should waste a session on just a headache; I'll just give you a massage."

"Okay." Jean agreed.

Neera was not shy; she casually leaned closer to him and smoothly massaged his head. She did not think that anything was wrong with their distance, as she was focused on massaging him.

Jean was staring at her pretty face throughout the whole process. Suddenly, he pretended to ask casually, "Ms. Neera, you're skilled in Chinese medicine. What about Western medicine?" It seemed like he suddenly thought of this question. He continued to test her by saying, "Usually the experts will not be flamboyant. Ms. Neera, are you someone like this? It seems like you're qualified to be at least a head of department in the hospital."

She glanced at him and answered calmly, "Thanks for thinking highly of me, but I'm not an expert in Western medicine. And I'm not really that talented. What's more, I liked to be free; I didn't like to be working boringly like everyone else. I have my own work to do too."

’"Oh," He was a little bit surprised, and he asked, as he was interested, "So, you're not only a doctor?"

She only realized that something was wrong with him. Why is he talking so much tonight? Isn't he having a headache? Why does he have the mood to ask so many questions?

She paused, and she looked at him suspiciously. "Aren't you unwell? Why are you prying at me?"

Jean looked at her calmly, and he answered, "I'm just simply chatting."

Although he said so, she still felt weird. She was alerted to his behavior.
