Chapter 298
Harvey’s cold, serious stare made Rebecca instinctively want to look away.
She asked softly, “Harvey, are you blaming me?”
Harvey curled his lips into a mocking smile. “Rebecca, answer me. Did you have someone send out those photos and videos?” Tanya and William both looked at Rebecca.
Rebecca shook her head. “It wasn’t me. Mom and Dad, you have to believe me! Why would I let someone send them out, knowing they’d hurt our family’s reputation?”
She sniffled softly. “Why would I do such a thing? Harvey, who told you that you should doubt me?”
Her expression was filled with grievance as she cried.
Tanya and the others quickly comforted her.
Ethan and Jason glared at Harvey.
However, Harvey was the eldest among them, and they had grown up under his authority. Even with their anger boiling, they could only stare at him.
Jason let out a soft huff before glancing at Madison. “Who else could it be? In this family, who other than one person would pull something like this?”
“You don’t need to look at anyone else nor imply anything. It wasn’t Madison,” Harvey stated as he took out his phone, flipping through the evidence he had gathered page by page.
“After tracing the IPs, I found that the videos and images sent out yesterday came from a few sources. Aside from the later ones posted by Megan’s fans, there were also Rebecca’s friends…” Harvey looked at her, noticing her complexion shifting.
He felt an indescribable discomfort in his heart.
The once obedient and sensible Rebecca was actually the one behind these schemes.
“Those friends you invited yesterday are the ones who sent those things out. And they all said you were the one who told them to post them.” Tanya looked at Rebecca in confusion. “Becky…”
Rebecca’s fingers trembled slightly, but she quickly composed herself. “Harvey, did you really verify this?
“I had them post the videos and photos because they mentioned that my birthday party would definitely attract a lot of traffic, so I agreed to let them post them. But I had no idea so many things would happen at the banquet!
“Harvey, I’m not like Maddie. I can’t predict what will happen afterward.”
As she spoke, Rebecca instinctively covered her mouth, a look of sudden realization crossing her face.
She looked at Madison in shock and confusion. “Maddie, aren’t you supposed to be very powerful? Didn’t you foresee that something would go wrong? If you had predicted it, why didn’t you stop these events from happening in advance?
“And if you weren’t able to foresee it…” Her voice became very soft, but everyone present heard her. “…then doesn’t that make you a fraud?” The system voiced up, “Rebecca’s pretty slick! With just a few words, she’s cleared herself of any blame. Whether you say you saw it coming or not, it’s got nothing to do with her now.”
Madison remained calm as she replied, “I’m just a person, not a deity. It’s impossible to foresee everything.”
