Book 1 Chapter 9
I woke up sleeping better than I had my whole life. I would never admit that to Alpha Douchebag though.
Speaking of His Royal Assheadness, he was still fast asleep, and still had his heavy ass arms wrapped around me.
Not giving a shit if he woke up or not, I untangled myself and got up to go piss.
"It's weird being on the receiving end of this," his deep, husky voice resonated throughout the room. Annoyed, I turned around from the bathroom to look at him with confusion. "You know, sneaking out of someone's bed."
My wolf stirred inside me for the first time since she saw her mate. She was incredibly submissive to me, and tried to stay at bay most times. She was pissed he was bringing up sexual relations with other females.
Not letting him see how bothered I was, I smiled and nodded in agreement. He growled loudly and snarled, "Just because I joke about that doesn't mean you can. You are a virgin, right?"
I just continued to smile and shrugged at him, knowing it would infuriate him.
Even though I expected him to get mad, I didn't anticipate him leaping out of the bed and grabbing me by the throat.
Usually, I would never let him get the jump on me, but I had just woken up and wasn't expecting it.
Holding me by the throat, picked me up and shoved by back into the wall. I could smell the blood coming out of the back of my head where it slammed into the wall.
I summoned a knife and held it against his throat as he still had his hand wrapped around mine.
I am no defenseless she—wolf he can manipulate and abuse into submission. I was certainly not about to cower in fear from this male.
I barred my teeth at him, openly challenging him.
His grip on my neck tightened, and I shoved the blade further into his neck, going so far as to draw blood.
This went on for what felt like hours, until he released my throat and slapped the knife out of my hand.
To my surprise, he left the room. Fuck yeah. Violence really does solve all problems, not words.
I finally went to the bathroom, and put on my cloak and cloth mask over the bottom half of my face.
Alpha Cain wasn't back when I got out of the bathroom, so I decided to just leave the room and maybe I'd get lucky and could just walk out of the front doors.
I stepped out of his room, and went down all 4 flights of stairs without seeing a single soul.
I even walked through the living room, and could see the door. I started walking quickly towards it, until an unfamiliar voice said, "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
I didn't turn back to see the source, and just kept walking towards the door. This was too good to be true.
I reached out for the handle, and when my hand made contact with it, it felt like it got a third degree burn.
I hissed, grabbing my hand. Sure enough, my hand was blackened, and the smell of burning flesh filled the air.
"Cain was right. You really have to do everything the hard way don't you?" I turned around, and saw the person who had driven us here last night.
Now seeing him in daylight, I could focus more on his features. He was tall, muscular, and had a head full of blond curls.
Not really knowing what else to do, I defaulted to my favorite way to deal with new people. Obviously, I summoned a knife and held it in front of me in a threatening position.
Surprisingly, instead of looking terrified, the male laughed loudly. "He also said you would do that."
I scowled, and wound my arm back, ready to throw the knife directly in between his eyes.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. I'm the Delta." He said proudly, puffing his chest out slightly.
I gave him a look to say, who the fuck cares?
"Look, we don't have to do this the hard way. Please just go easy on me, okay? Alpha Cain made me your personal guard to make sure you didn't run or hurt yourself. He'd kill me if anything went wrong, which would really suck for my mate, who by the way, is pregnant." He held his hands up in surrender.
Goddamn, I hate the soft spot I have for pups, born or unborn. Just to fuck with him, I threw the knife slightly to the left of his head, so it just missed him by a hair.
"Nice aim. You must be pretty good at wielding weapons if your Gift is to summon them. Can you summon other stuff? It's cool you used to be a Gamma, you must have been really good at other fighting stuff too." He babbled on, much too enthusiastic for someone who almost got impaled with a dagger.
