Meredith looked at the man, who was standing in the dark. She found him to be hostile.
The man was Asher.
Meredith had always felt that Asher was not very friendly to her. For a moment, she got somewhat defensive. She took two steps back. "What's the matter?”
Asher looked at her, who was slightly surprised. He smiled more sarcastically. She pretended to be innocent and pitiful. It seemed that she had never been in prison. She was just like a little white rabbit who didn't know anything about the world.
However, she could deceive Derek, but not him.
"Are you here to take care of Derek?”
"Sort of."
Meredith also had no intention of talking with him, so she offered a vague answer, trying to walk past Asher, but he blocked the way once again.
"Since I'm here, I won't beat around the bush with you. I know your background very well. I know who you are. A person like you is not matched with Derek, so I hope you don't make any unnecessary struggles, which are only jokes for us."
Asher's words were full of sarcasm for Meredith. His air of superiority made her feel as if she was a toad desiring for a swan.
Perhaps, in their social circle, she was such a lowly toad.
But at this moment, Meredith suddenly didn't want to be looked down upon. "I'm sorry. I don't want to talk to you about this."
As she spoke, she held the lunch box in her hand and tried to walk past him, but Asher reached out and stopped her.
Compared with Meredith, he was a head taller. With his height and strength, it was easy for him to control a woman like her.
"I've made it so clear. Are you going to play dumb? Well, you can ask me for what you want. I won't bargain. When you get it, you have to disappear and be away from Derek."
Meredith looked at him. He thought who he was.
At best, he was just a friend of Derek. How could he say he was going to insult her with money?
Meredith frowned. Asher, sneering inwardly, thought she hesitated. Sure enough, this kind of woman approached Derek only for money and profit.
Meredith thought for a moment. Asher insisted on persuading her to leave, was it just for Derek? Was it because he didn't want his friend to live with someone he despised?
However, if so, he was too selfless. If there were any other reasons, Meredith would have thought that the man in front of her was gay and that he was trying to keep his lover, so that he could embarrass her without hesitation.
Just as she was thinking, Meredith suddenly understood something.
"Are you doing this for Chloe?"
Meredith quickly recalled the day Asher brought Chloe to the Xavier Group...
Could it be that Asher loved Chloe?
"What are you talking about?" Asher did not expect Meredith to talk about this. He was in a daze for a moment, and Meredith saw it all.
She immediately understood why he stopped her and felt somewhat pity for him.
It was obvious that he liked Chloe, but he still wanted to do such a thankless thing for making Chloe and Derek happy. Was Asher called infatuated or stupid?
Asher was annoyed for being gazed by Meredith. She was a lowly woman. How could she look at him like that?
What's more, she got to know what he had been hiding, which made him feel frustrated and even angrier. "I'll give you three days to think about it. I warn you here. If you continue to be up to no good and live with Derek, I'll give you a hard time."
After saying that, Asher pushed Meredith away and left.
