Derek noticed that she was uneasy. He clenched his fists. The veins in his hands were beating, and a complex look flashed in his eyes.
After a long time, he replied, "It's because I'm too busy with work. I don't have time to meet you. It's better for us to wait and then meet each other when I'm really free. Otherwise, you will be disappointed."
This explanation was not unacceptable to Meredith. She raised her head and looked at the small black circles under Derek's eyes. He had them probably because he was too busy with work in recent days.
Maybe he was really busy...
Meredith thought to herself and she felt better. However, she asked him, "Then why didn't you talk to me? Why were you with that woman?"
"Are you jealous?" Derek looked at Meredith, who was like an abandoned puppy, and his heart suddenly softened when he heard her pitiful tone. "I have to talk with her about cooperating with her family. However, since she is so rude, I don't think we should cooperate with her."
Hearing this, Meredith felt less gloomy. Since Derek had given up cooperating with that woman for her, it seemed that she shouldn't be obsessed with this matter.
"Well..." Meredith replied sullenly. "So you're still busy? If you're tired, you should go back to the hotel and rest."
From the moment Derek landed, he did not sleep or even have the time to get over jet lag. He must be very tired.
Derek nodded. "Then you should go back to the hospital and take care of auntie. Don't worry about me."
Meredith felt something was wrong. Usually, Derek would have asked her to stay with him. After all, she could help make coffee or something in the hotel.
It seemed that the man...was increasingly unwilling to keep her company.
