Derek was slapped, but there was no expression on his face. He stared at her bitterly. "You're still thinking about the Xaviers. Don't you feel even a little guilty about Meredith?"
Violet suddenly felt exhausted. She was running around in the domestic and overseas. Yet she was still being contradicted by her son when she was severely jet-lagged. It was really hard for her to stay calm.
"Derek, everyone has their own most important thing. In your opinion, all the glory of the Xaviers is nothing, but that's all I have."
Ever since she married into the Xaviers, Violet's life had not been easy. Her husband had been flirting around and even wanted to divorce her for a mistress, which was known throughout the city.
The only thing Violet felt she could make up for herself was the glory of the Xaviers.
That was the only thing that comforted her, making her feel that her youth was not wasted.
"What about me?" Derek looked at her and suddenly wanted to laugh. "Have you considered me?"
She had taken into account everything about the Xaviers, but she had forgotten about her son as a living person.
"Derek..."
There was a suffocating silence in the air.
"I won't give up. I'll keep looking for Meredith, alive or dead."
Derek suddenly opened his mouth. He no longer confronted Violet. He knew that she would not give him any clues, nor would she have any regrets or guilt about Meredith, so he could only do it on his own.
"I hope you don't stop me this time. Otherwise, I don't know what I will do."
Derek's voice was filled with depression and pain.
Only then did Violet see the wound on his hand. He had just punched against the wall, and the blood kept flowing down, as if it were hitting her chest.
Violet was suddenly confused for a moment. She thought that her son would stand on the same side as her no matter when. She did not expect such a day of tit-for-tat.
Meredith had a dream.
In her dream, she saw her baby, the one who was taken away after just one look.
In her memory, she could not see the child's face clearly. She only heard his cry. She looked around for the child's traces, but in the end, she only saw the figure of a man and a woman.
It was Derek and Chloe. Chloe was holding her child, looking arrogant as usual.
"Meredith, look how arrogant you were back then. Now I have your child."
"But when my child is born, he will be useless. He is just an illegitimate child."
Chloe turned a deaf ear to the baby's heartbreaking cry. It seemed that she was laughing at Meredith's ignorance and stupidity.
"Give me back the child!"
Meredith tried to run in their direction, but she could not get close to them, as if she were separated from an invisible barrier.
She could only watch the child being taken away by Derek and Chloe, but she could do nothing.
"No, give me back the child... Give it back to me..."
Meredith struggled, and then someone held her hand. "Meredith, wake up. Did you have a nightmare?"
Meredith woke up from her dream and opened her eyes to see Parker standing by the bed with a concerned face.
