"Moreover, whether or not we can cooperate will be decided by the contract tomorrow." He concluded without a trace of emotion.
Nora was relieved to see that he was expressionless and perfectly impartial. The burden did lift from her mind.
She nodded, "Mr. Xavier, don't worry. If we can cooperate, I will do my best."
Derek looked at his watch, "Let's go. It's late. I'll take you home."
"Don't bother. I'll just take a taxi home. You've helped me a lot today."
He was not a good-natured person. Nora's repeated rejection made him a little angry. He couldn't help but narrow his eyes and take a step forward, trapping her between his arms.
Nora exclaimed. When she found their posture, her heart thumped and her ears turned red.
"You seem to be afraid of me?"
His deep voice swirled around her ears, and she could clearly feel his unique masculinity. Nora's first instinct was not to push him away, which was very rare.
There was a flash of confusion in her eyes, and she was at a loss. She wondered if it was her delusion that his smell... felt familiar to her. It was so familiar that it made her feel that she used to be in close contact with this smell.
This idea startled her and she immediately came back to her senses. She flushed and could not help but despise herself in her heart. After all, this was not the first time she had such an idea about Derek.
Derek took the initiative to let her go, "Let's go."
This time, Nora did not say no and followed him obediently.
The next day.
Harvey and Nora went to the Xavier Group early in the morning.
Standing outside the Xavier Group and looking up at the giant building in front of her, Nora felt once again that she was totally out of Derek's league!
It was the first time for both of them to set foot in the Xavier Group. Harvey was smiling all the way, even to the receptionist.
Soon, a handsome, cultured man in a suit walked towards them.
"Hello. I'm assistant Damian. Mr. Xavier has told me to lead you up."
"Oh, yes, yes, yes. Mr. Xavier is such a busy person. I'm so honored that he still remembers us." Harvey had a big smile on his face.
Nora had been working at design company for a long time, but this was the first time she had seen her boss like this, but it was understandable. After all, this was the Xavier Group.
Assistant Damian told them to wait in the conference room and then he left.
Harvey heaved a sigh of relief when he saw Damian leave and looked at Nora strangely, "Nora, good for you. I don't expect you to know Mr. Xavier. I've never heard you talk about him. You hide it so well."
"But it's not too late to for me know it now. Nora, you've been in the company for so many years, and I haven't treated you badly. Now the company is at the critical moment, and it's up to you whether the company can survive or not."
Nora's blood froze. She was very helpless and explained, "Mr. Specter, you've got it all wrong. Mr. Xavier and I just met by chance. We are not friends."
Mr. Specter didn't believe it at all. Who was Derek? Why would he care so much about someone he didn't have a relationship with?
Harvey waved his hand unconcernedly, with an ambiguous smile on his face, "I know. I know. Don't worry. I won't say anything."
