In the afternoon.
As expected, the previous Director Smith had arrived. During the handover, she was nice, telling Meredith anything that she didn't understand in detail.
Director Smith would come to Meredith's office every day for the next week and teach her personally, trying to get Meredith to get familiar with the work as soon as possible.
After work, she gave Meredith some advice on design, which was a surprise.
Although her ability was limited to B Department at Xavier Group's headquarters, she was still a rare teacher for Meredith who was not professional.
Derek ordered Director Smith to do so, which was why she was so dutiful. She rarely had chances to meet Mr. Xavier, so she had to do a good job for him.
The next few days, as she had expected, many people stared at her with different eyes as long as she walked out of the Design Department.
Some were curious, some were malicious, disdainful...
This was a situation she had experienced before in J City, so this time, she adapted well. She ignored them and did what she was supposed to do.
This week, because of Director Smith's generous guidance, Meredith was very quick at her work. She was very familiar with the situation of the B Department, as well as the performance in recent years and some large projects.
She was much more relaxed.
As for Ms. Ross, her attitude was totally changed this week. She showed great respect to Meredith and didn't even dare to make a sound during the meeting, probably because she was afraid that Meredith would pick on her.
For several days, she didn't see Derek, and he didn't look for her, nor did he contact her. To be honest, Meredith felt a little uncomfortable, and when she came back to his senses, she couldn't help but complain.
After work one day, she drove back to the neighborhood where she lived. Naturally, the car was offered by Derek, like the house. She was unable to refuse him.
As soon as she went upstairs, she was stunned.
In front of her apartment stood a child and an adult, looking at her in unison with pitiful eyes.
"Mom, you're back. I've been waiting for you for a long time." Easton immediately threw himself at Meredith.
She picked up her son and looked at Derek. "Why are you here?" she asked.
Derek took her bag with a smile and said, "Our son misses you. Well, I miss you too, so we came over."
Meredith pursed her lips and opened the door without answering.
She sat on the sofa with her son.
Derek offered to make dinner on his initiative, but...
"Meredith, Easton wants to eat tomatoes and eggs. Should I put eggs first or tomatoes?"
"Meredith, how do you cook? If I turn on the electric cooker, I don't have to keep an eye on it, do I?"
"Meredith, do you want lotus root or lotus root slices?"
"Meredith..."
She rolled her eyes helplessly, then got up and walked over. Looking at the mess in the kitchen, she said, expressionless, "Let me do it."
"No, you've been working so hard all day. I'll make it. Just wait to eat."
Meredith was speechless.
"When do you think I can eat?"
Derek smiled, "Well, you make dinner and I'll give you a hand. It saves time. What do you think?"
"No, leave me alone. Don't get in the way," said Meredith with a frown.
