The Good Girl's Revenge novel Chapter 537

"Maybe I should learn from you?"

Derek chuckled. He never wanted to give up.

No matter what, everything was much better than when he thought Meredith was dead.

As long as she was alive, there were always many possibilities.

He wouldn't just walk away, but he might have to change his ways.

"Your situation is much better than mine."

Asher smiled bitterly. At least, they were in love, but they couldn't be together because of some external factors.

As for him, he could not be sure of his feelings for Chloe, nor did he know that she was going to be engaged to him out of love or that she just needed someone to take care of her.

But it didn't matter anymore.

"Asher, if you don't want to engage with her, then reconsider it. You've taken care of her a lot. You don't need to force yourself."

"I see."

Asher didn't want to talk about it, so he gave a simple reply.

Hanging up the phone, Derek was absorbed in thought.

...

The next morning

Easton didn't sleep well. He felt something was wrong.

When he woke up, Meredith was not up yet, so he got up quietly, opened the door, and went to find Derek.

Easton knocked on the door. Derek came over and opened the door and let Easton in.

"You got up so early."

There was nothing unusual about Derek's expression. He looked calm.

Easton looked at Derek a few times and still couldn't hold back his words. "Dad, what happened to you and mom? I'm worried."

Derek's hand, which was pouring water, paused and spilled some water on his finger. He pretended that nothing had happened. "Nothing. It's just that I might need to give your mother some space from now on."

"Space? What do you mean?"

Easton was smart, but he did not understand the entanglement only belonged to the adult world.

"Do you want to separate?"

Derek smiled, "I don't think so. Your mother has a lot of things to deal with right now, and so do I. I have to handle those things before I see her. Otherwise, she'll be unhappy."

Last night, Derek couldn't sleep either.

He had been thinking about what Meredith said and the way she looked at him.

Only then did he realize that the entanglement between them might bring her more unhappiness.

If so, perhaps he should reflect on whether he had done something wrong in the past.

"When will you handle them..."

Easton pouted and dangled his short fair legs.

He felt that things between adults were too complicated.

Couldn't they be simpler?

"Anyway, I'm still your father, and she's still your mother. Our feelings for you won't change. Easton, don't think too much."

Derek touched Easton's head, squatted down, and looked at him.

Easton listened to him. "You have to figure it out quickly, deal with your things, and pursue mom."

Easton nodded. "I promise."

"Pinky swear."

Easton was still clamoring for Derek to give him more serious assurance.

Derek couldn't help but laugh at Easton's rare childishness.

Easton was still a child. Didn't he know that they could break the promise even if they pinky swore?

He didn't want to say anything to disappoint Easton. Instead, Derek reached out his hand to his son. "I promise you, and I will do it."
