"Who's that?" Following Derek into the office, Asher glanced at Meredith outside.
This was a new face. In order to avoid unnecessary trouble, Derek would normally not let women work close to him.
"... An employee." Derek hesitated for a moment, then answered slightly.
Asher's eyes were sharp, so he wouldn't miss Derek's momentary unnatural behavior. "Bloody hell. No way. You are interested in someone, aren't you?"
Derek was his buddy growing up. Asher knew him better than anyone else.
If that girl was really an insignificant employee, Derek would hesitate?
"Don't ask, okay." Derek frowned and suddenly felt that talking to an excessively familiar person was a disturbing thing.
"So, you're not going to see Chloe?" Asher suddenly felt kind of sad.
Derek and Chloe were the favorite power couple in their circle. Everyone envied them. There was a saying that seeing them, you knew what ideal love was.
Asher felt a sense of loss when he saw they, two friends growing up, broke up.
Without answering, Derek looked at the picture on the table, losing in thought for a moment.
In the photo was a young couple with school uniforms, both of whom were eighteen or nineteen. At that time, they did not mature like this. Derek was held arm by Chloe, with a smile of amusement in his eyes.
In a flash, it had been three years.
"I'll think about it." Derek put the photo down with a snap and looked at Asher. "You can go now."
"So heartless? Who's that girl outside? You are not interested in a love story about the president and the cleaner, aren't you?"
Asher was not angry at being asked to leave. Instead, with a playful smile, he pointed at Meredith, who was wiping the glass. He was indeed kind of curious about this woman.
He wondered she was special in what way and why Derek kept her by his side, although she was indeed good-looking.
"Why are you so talkative? I need to work. If you want to stay, be quiet."
Derek glanced at Meredith, who was doing her own thing outside, and his eyes darkened. Then, he looked down at the document at hand, refusing to talk to Asher.
Asher felt bored. He wasn't interested in watching Derek work. It would be boring. Then he walked out, and behind Meredith, he patted her on the shoulder mischievously.
Meredith was focusing on the work at hand, but she was suddenly touched and almost sprang.
Meredith had been bothered by Leo several times these days, and she was almost allergic to others' touch.
"Why did you react so strongly?" Asher looked at Meredith, who jumped away like a little rabbit, and his eyes were filled with interest.
The woman was scared, and her eyes were glittering. Her face turned blushed, making her fairly adorable.
Did Derek like this type now?
Asher's eyes darkened. As a mutual friend of Chloe and Derek, he definitely wanted them to get back together, so this woman was an obstacle.
"Sorry, I was scared..." Meredith shook her head. She thought it was Leo and subconsciously wanted to avoid him.
"Do you work here?"
Meredith nodded. "Yes."
Not knowing the person in front of her, Meredith wouldn't say anything that shouldn't be mentioned.
