The Good Girl's Revenge novel Chapter 85

Meredith heard some sound behind her, thinking that it was the servant who brought the food, but did not turn back. She just said lightly, "Just put it there first. I'll eat it later."

Derek frowned. "You've been eating alone in your room lately... Why? Are you afraid to see me?"

Meredith was startled to hear a man's voice and turned to see Derek. She became even more frightened and immediately took a step back, looking at him warily. "I've been... I have some gastroenteritis and I'm not feeling well. I'm afraid I'll disturb everyone when I go out to eat."

Meredith unconsciously placed her hand on her abdomen and exerted a little force. She would never let Derek know that she had a child in her womb, or else this man would torture her even more cruelly.

"Gastroenteritis?" Derek looked at Meredith's face, which was obviously much more emaciated. She was so skinny now that she looked as if she could be blown away by a gust of wind.

"Since you're not feeling well, I'll call the doctor lest someone will think that the Xaviers has abused you."

Derek was about to call the family doctor of the Xaviers. Meredith was startled and immediately got out of bed. "No, I've already gone to see a doctor. He said there's nothing serious. I just need to take the medicine on time."

In her current condition, if she saw a doctor... Derek would know she was pregnant.

Meredith could hardly imagine what would happen.

"Are you sure?" Derek looked at her flustered face, and felt something was wrong.

"I'm extremely sure." Meredith nodded quickly. After a while, the servant came in with dishes. When the servant saw Derek, he quickly lowered his head. "Young master."

Derek gave a snort as response. Meredith looked at the chicken porridge and a few light dishes in front of her. They were already the dishes that she could think of that was light and most in line with the nutrition standards mentioned by the doctor. However, every time she saw them, she still felt a little nauseous.

"I'll watch you eat." Derek had no intention of leaving at all. Instead, he sat down in his chair and looked at her leisurely.

Meredith didn't know what he meant, so she was nervous. Did Derek find out her secret?

She was just eating. What did he need to see?

"I'll see if you eat obediently. Don't go on a hunger strike when I can't see you. I don't want to see anyone starve to death in the Xaviers."

Hearing Derek's words, Meredith was a little relieved, lowered her head, and began to eat slowly and elegantly.

Derek looked at Meredith eating. When she was eating, she had great dining etiquette, and she looked graceful. Unconsciously, he didn't think that she was too slow or bored, but just watched.

In order not to arouse the suspicion of the man, Meredith ate sip by sip slowly to avoid retching. She thought that Derek would lose his patience and leave directly, but he just sat there and continued watching.

In the end, she felt a little embarrassed under his watch.

What was going on in this man's mind was really beyond the comprehension of ordinary people.

After eating about half of the dishes, Meredith felt her stomach stuffed and was about to pack them up, while Derek took a look and said coldly, "That's all you eat?"

"I can't digest them if I eat too much. The doctor told me this." Meredith quickly said the excuse she came up with before.

Hearing that, Derek didn't ask any more questions, got up and left. Before he left, he said, "For the sake of your recent illness, I'll let you go this time, but don't think it's over."

After that, the man left.

Meredith smiled bitterly. Should she say that Derek was not that inhumane? At least, he didn't force her when she was pregnant. Otherwise, her body wouldn't be able to stand it.
