The Good Girl's Revenge novel Chapter 99

As she was thinking of this, her nails were embedded into the palms, leaving deep marks. Then she looked coldly at the corner where Meredith was.

Shortly after Derek got contacted with the people outside, the repairmen arrived. They couldn't afford to keep Derek being trapped in the elevator for so long, for they could be punished for that.

So, not long after, the elevator was good again.

The light slowly lit up. Derek glanced at Meredith who was in the corner. With fright, her face was very pale; her normally red lips were now drained of blood; her hands were tightly covering her abdomen; and her expression showed that she was very nervous.

Did she care so much about the baby?

Derek suddenly grew unspeakably irritable. Glancing at the two women, he maintained his manners and said, "After you."

Meredith nodded and was about to walk out of the elevator when she went weak at the knees and almost fell to the ground. Seeing this, Derek quickly lifted her up.

"Thank you. I didn't see the way,"

Meredith hurriedly thanked him. Perhaps because she was pregnant, she was no longer as resilient as she used to be. Even the elevator blackout would make her extremely nervous.

However, Meredith was also a little surprised that Derek would take the initiative to help her. Didn't he hate the baby in her womb?

"Be careful with yourself," Derek was upset. He was just acting subconsciously only to realize how strange that was afterwards.

It had nothing to do with him even if she had a miscarriage and the illegitimate baby just died.

Nova saw there was something between the two of them and understood what was going on.

Not wanting to see Derek holding Meredith, Nova forced out a warm smile, "Since Meredith is not feeling well, I'll help her back. Mr. Xavier, don't worry."

As she spoke, she went up and helped Meredith out of the elevator.

Meredith was a little surprised by Nova's enthusiasm at the moment, but having suffered a shock, she was unwell with a tummy ache, so she did not refuse.

"Mr. Xavier seems to care a lot about you,"

Nova said as if she didn't mean it, but deep down she was being very jealous of Meredith.

"No, it's just... He probably saw my pale face and was afraid that something would happen to me. After all, it would be bad for the company if something happened to staff there,"

Meredith quickly denied it, being afraid that Nova would misunderstand their relationship.

Saying nothing more, Nova helped Meredith to the place, "I am still learning the robes here, and hope that I could learn from you."

Seeing she was being polite, Meredith nodded.

From then on, Nova went to Meredith whenever she was free.

Meredith knew best what it felt like to be ostracized in the workplace, so she spared no effort in helping Nova adapt to her work.

After all, she was also a poor college student who needed a work-study program. Meredith was always nice to people who were in the same difficult situation as she.

Soon the two of them got to know each other.

Friday, after work, Meredith was about to leave when Nova suddenly held her arm and said, "Meredith, you've helped me a lot at work lately. I don't know how to thank you. My parents said they wanted to invite you home for dinner. I wonder if you're free today."

Meredith hesitated.

"Just go to my house for a meal. They are all my families, so don't be shy."
