The Invincible Arthur Gardner novel Chapter 81

The following day, Arthur found himself in his new office, occupying the highest floor of the Brown Company Building. Standing in a stylish dark blue suit, he gazed out of the large glass window that overlooked the towering structures of Southlake City.

Only a few months prior, Arthur had entered this room to mop the floor and occasionally serve drinks to the CEO who used to inhabit this space. But now, here he was, the sole proprietor of the distinguished enterprise, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride as he reflected on the remarkable transformation of his life. A broad grin spread across his face.

"Without the help of an extraordinary system that suddenly appeared in my life, none of these things would have been achievable for me.”

[Hold off your thanks for now, Host]

“System, for how long are you going to keep it a secret about who actually gave me this magical power, and why me? Who is your creator?”

[Rather than grilling me with questions, Host, why don’t you spend your time conversing with the beauties around you? Unfortunately, I don’t have the answer to that.]

There was a gentle knock on the door, and Arthur immediately invited whoever it was to enter his room. To his surprise, a janitor of the same age as him, head bowed, stepped inside.

"Excuse me sir, I need to do a bit of mopping up here. I apologize for coming in while you were still here; I was unaware you had arrived earlier than expected," he said.

Arthur had indeed arrived too soon, as Edna had asked the workers to rearrange the room to fit his preferences more.

"Ah no, don't worry, just do your job," Arthur replied, recognizing the man as someone he had worked with before in the same position.

The man then shuffled to the corner of the room and mopped slowly, desperately trying to obscure his face from Arthur.

"That's you, isn't it, Naan?" Arthur asked, cautiously advancing toward the man.

Naan, hearing his name was called, immediately felt a wave of terror, his body quivering with fear. He quickly stopped his work and anxiously turned to face Arthur, still keeping his head bowed.

"Yes, sir," Naan replied, sinking to his knees. "Please don't fire me, sir. I need this job."

For some reason, Naan felt very afraid of Arthur, but it happened because many of his friends had been laid off from the company, and he didn't want to have a similar fate.

"No," Arthur replied quietly. "I only want to talk to you; I have no intention of firing you. How have you been? Has your wife given birth yet? What about your child, is it a girl or a boy?"

Naan instantly felt as if his body had stiffened. Naan had never once spoken to Arthur before, even though they had worked in the same position. However, Naan once told a coworker about his pregnant wife, who also happened to have Arthur nearby at the time.

Naan was taken aback that Arthur still remembered their conversation and was even kind enough to discuss it with him. Raising his face, he replied, "My wife is doing well, sir. We had a daughter."

"That's great," Arthur replied with a smile. "You'll be receiving benefits for the birth of your child soon. I hope she stays healthy and grows up to be a beautiful and intelligent young lady."

"Sir, are you sure of what you're saying?" Naan asked, his voice tinged with a hint of uncertainty as Arthur walked away.

"Yes, absolutely," Arthur replied casually, giving Naan a reassuring smile. "You have done a very good job."

With these words, Arthur turned and headed back to his seat.

Arthur smiled, pleased to have been able to help someone like Naan. Although he had never chatted with him before, Arthur knew Naan was a hard worker; he always did his job with great care and did what he could to provide for his children and wife.
