The Kiss that Sparked it All (Ellinor and Theo) novel Chapter 1979

Just as she had clicked shut her laptop, Ivy’s phone erupted into a symphony of rings. It was a call from Nolan.

She hesitated for a moment but decided to answer it anyway.

Despite having promised Balfour to keep her distance from Nolan, answering a call from an old schoolmate seemed harmless enough.

"Hey, Nolan."

"Hey Ivy, you busy right now?"

"Not at all. What's up?"

"Well, Ivy, I'm just giving it another shot... Are you sure you don't want to come work with us?" Nolan's voice still held a hint of hope. "The Harris Group may not be top tier, but we've got a lot to offer. You sure you won't reconsider?"

The position of Advertising Director at the Harris Group was a coveted spot, but Ivy’s promise to Balfour was clear— She had to keep a distance from Nolan. "Nolan, I really can't join. I appreciate the offer, but I have to decline."

Nolan fell silent for a moment before letting out a sigh, "Alright then. But Ivy, since you accidentally scratched Clara's face, she can't do the photoshoot for our upcoming ad campaign. We're scrambling to find a replacement. If we don't deliver it on time, the company's looking at a hefty fine for breach of contract."

"What?" Ivy felt a pang of guilt at the thought of causing such trouble.

Nolan had always been kind to her, often lending a helping hand when she needed it. She really didn't want to add to his burdens.

"No, no, Nolan, I... I was just kidding!" Realizing her misunderstanding, Ivy scrambled for an excuse to hide her embarrassment.

Nolan's laughter subsided, "Ivy, what I meant was, our company is in dire need of a suitable model for the ad. Clara can't shoot it with her injured face, and you're her sister. You two look alike to some extent, so how about you finish the ad for us?"

"Me in a commercial?" Ivy frowned lightly, doubting herself. "But I've never done any ad work before, and I'm not a known face. Wouldn't that be inappropriate?"

"Ivy, you can do it. If you don't help us out, our company's going to be out of pocket big time, and we're not talking chump change here."

Agreeing to shoot a commercial for the Harris Group meant that she'd inevitably be in contact with Nolan. If Balfour found out, he'd surely be upset.
