Just two flights of stairs, yet Ivy felt a restless unease whether sitting or standing until a knock from Balfour echoed at the door.

Her head whipped towards the entrance, instinctively knowing who was on the other side.

It was the man who wanted to see her, the same man who'd been haunting her thoughts.

"Ivy, open up."
