The Kiss that Sparked it All (Ellinor and Theo) novel Chapter 2429

Ivy hesitated to answer Balfour's question directly. She wanted to trust him, but the fear of giving her heart only to end up hurt made her seek reassurance about his feelings.

"I want to be with you, Ivy. I don't want our relationship to be just some flimsy contract. Believe it or not, there's plenty of time, and I'll prove it to you."

They looked at each other in silence, tears already swirling in Ivy's eyes.

She wasn't sure if she had finally received what she'd longed for, but her tears were a clear sign of her happiness.

They fell asleep in each other's arms, and when Ivy woke up the next morning, she felt a tight embrace around her waist.

It wasn't until Balfour nuzzled her neck that memories of the previous night came flooding back. Balfour had come to her in the wee hours and confessed his feelings.

It all felt like a dream, so when Balfour asked her what she was daydreaming about, Ivy was still in a daze.

"What are you thinking about?"

"Huh? Oh, nothing, just... it all seems a bit unbelievable."

Ivy shyly tucked in her neck, but Balfour gently rolled her over to face him.

He kissed her forehead gently.

"Still feels unbelievable? I'm right here with you. If you're ever uneasy, just hold my hand."

Ivy looked down and smiled faintly, a scene that had only ever occurred in her dreams.

"Alright, enough dawdling. Is your scene schedule tight this morning?"

He felt relieved only after confirming that she'd be able to walk without crutches in a few days.

"Tomorrow, after your scenes are done, I'll take you to the hospital for a check-up."

Ivy obediently nodded. "Actually, it doesn't hurt anymore. I think I can walk without crutches now."

"No way," Balfour immediately vetoed. "What if it causes problems later? Listen to the doctor, and only ditch the crutches once you're completely pain-free."

"Okay, I'll follow the doctor's advice."

Ever since Balfour arrived at Ivy's place, he'd carried her wherever she needed to go.

At first, Ivy was a bit embarrassed – she wasn't a toddler, after all, to be carried around! But in no time, she found comfort in his protective embrace.
