The Kiss that Sparked it All (Ellinor and Theo) novel Chapter 2441

"Don't you worry, if there's anything I've mastered, it's these two tricks. After all, isn't that how you've both treated me my entire life?" Ivy mocked her.

Tessa was well aware that she hadn't been the kindest mother to Ivy over the years. On her way to see her daughter, Tessa had even considered making amends, provided Ivy was in a forgiving mood. But she didn’t assume Ivy would greet her with a sneer. She frowned and said, "After all these years, your father and I have slaved away raising you. And this is how you repay us? You really have some nerve."

Ivy laughed coldly, "Repay? Sorry, but I wrote you off a long time ago. The moment I packed my bags and walked out that door, any connection between us was severed. So I have no idea why you're bringing this up now. But unlike you, I'm not at leisure. If you've got nothing better to do, why not go make yourself useful in the kitchen? Whip up a few comfort dishes. It might sweeten up your husband and that darling daughter of yours. I'm not sticking around for this."

The makeup artist who had been attending to Ivy waited patiently on the side, while Tessa's method of arrival and departure was no longer Ivy's concern.

Ivy's facade of indifference was betrayed by her downturned mouth, which was an indication of her emotional turmoil.

However, Tessa had never heard of Ivy’s confrontation. Since the day her daughter was born, Tessa felt a pang of dissatisfaction, but Ivy had always been compliant—at least on the surface.

But now her daughter dared to defy her in public. Tessa felt as if Ivy had grown wings and was now beyond her control.

With a large crew watching, Tessa's embarrassment turned to fury. She wasn't one to stand up to her husband at home, but Ivy was her own flesh and blood. Surely, she could still exert her authority?

Fuming, Tessa charged after Ivy. The makeup artist's scream cut through the tension, "Look out!"
