The Kiss that Sparked it All (Ellinor and Theo) novel Chapter 2856

Regina tried to console herself, but the tears betrayed her. They trickled stubbornly down her cheeks.

The thought of Nolan looking at her with that indifferent gaze, as if she were something filthy, was agonizing.

She had never harbored any grand illusions about a future with Nolan. All she wanted was to stand by, like a good friend, and watch over him from afar.

But she never could have guessed that what her father did would obliterate even that possibility.

Now she couldn’t even be his friend, and the thought of that left a bitter taste in Regina's heart.

She could understand, at least in part, her father's intentions. The Tanner Group was in dire straits; otherwise, he wouldn't have recklessly taken that tape to threaten the Harris family.

But it was such an unwise move. If Nolan really got angry, it could spell the end for the entire Tanner family.

Regina, still naive, didn't realize that Francis was acting for his son's sake and mistakenly thought that her father's actions were partly out of love for her, considering her future.

She had just been discharged from the hospital and was meant to be home to recover.

After the day's turmoil, she collapsed onto her bed without even covering herself with a blanket and fell asleep.

She woke up the next morning, shivering from the cold.
