Chapter 235 How Pretentious!
Back inside the car, Elias put on his seatbelt and could not help but take another close look at the picture. The girl remained utterly familiar to him. "Where have I seen you before…" he muttered.
Since he still had no recollection, he placed the frame on the passenger seat and drove away. Suddenly, his phone began vibrating, so he glanced at it and saw it was from Amanda. How astonishing was it that she was still willing to call him despite their situation?
He hesitated momentarily before picking up the call. As he expected, the voice that sounded was not hers but Aiden's. "Daddy! What are you doing?"
Hearing his son's voice, the man unconsciously smiled. "I'm driving. I'm heading home to sleep."
"Home? Are you coming back to Mommy's home?" The child's voice was filled with excitement.
The man smiled somewhat resignedly. "No, I'm busy lately, so I'm sleeping at the office."
"But you said you are going home to sleep. Is your office also your home? Hmph…"
When Elias heard the child's angry retort, he smiled even brighter. "Why aren't you asleep? Don't you have school tomorrow?"
"No, I don't! You don't care about me at all. Tomorrow's the weekend, so I don't have school. Can you play with me tomorrow? I don't want to stay home."
That made Elias frown. He had to meet a few clients tomorrow, so he might not have the time to accompany Aiden, but… he did not want to reject his son's request either. After all, he had already missed four years of his son's life, so why waste any more time?
"Alright, you be good and go to bed. I'll be there to bring you out once you wake up. How about that?"
"Yay! You're the best, Daddy."
"Go to bed now. Good night."
"Good night, Daddy."
Once the call ended, the man smiled happily. Everything that happened recently was troublesome, and only hearing the kid's voice could elicit a genuine smile on his face.
…
After returning to the office, Elias placed the picture frame on the side and dialed a number. "Come over to get the photo and restore the girl's face twenty years later. Give it to me as soon as you can."
Once he hung up, his thoughts fell onto the picture again. Stephanie did not look much similar to her sister, and Amelia looked utterly familiar to someone he seemed to know. He stared at the picture for a long time, thinking the little girl was somehow close to him…
…
The following morning at Northern No. 1, Aiden woke up and obediently washed up to change himself. Then, he went to have breakfast and sat in the living room waiting patiently. Selina was shocked by the scene and wondered what happened to the little fellow to make him suddenly so obedient.
The bedroom door opened, and Amanda came out, yawning. Just as she was asking what was for breakfast, she noticed the neatly dressed Aiden sitting on the couch and was shocked for seconds. Then, she turned to Selina, asking, "Why did you wake him up so early? He doesn't have school today."
Selina shrugged, looking like she had nothing to do with this. "Not on me. Aiden woke up early and prepared all on his own. He's been this way since he finished his breakfast. I don't know what's going on either."
