Spencer feared that Charlie would intervene again. If Spencer lost his position as the head of the family, that was equivalent to losing everything.
Jordan too was filled with anxiety. He hoped to regain his position as the head of the family and stage an absolute comeback.
Unfortunately, it would be inappropriate for him to speak up in Charlie’s silence.
Therefore, Jordan waited patiently for Charlie to express his intention. A man of advanced age like him would not be able to regain his power with only his granddaughter’s support.
While the two were dwelling in their thoughts, Charlie suddenly spoke to them.
"Hey, you two. One's the current head of the family, and the other the previous head of the family. Homer did so much cruelty under your supervision. Both of you are responsible for overlooking his crimes. Do you have anything you want to say now?"
Spencer was startled and jumped in shock. He hurriedly answered, "Mr. Wade, I’ve been the head of the family for barely half a month! I shouldn’t be held responsible for what he's done! Please be understanding!"
Then, he glanced snidely at Jordan and told Charlie, "Mr. Wade, my father Jordan has been the head of the Fox family almost all of Homer's life. He's to blame for this!"
Hearing that, Jordan's expression turned ugly. He was furious that his son had pushed all the blame on him. Even so, he knew exactly what Charlie meant.
Homer's sins happened not just once or twice, but for many years in a row. Jordan remained as the head of the family during the period, but he never noticed what Homer had been doing. Indeed, it was his inescapable responsibility.
Spencer was overjoyed, grateful to hear Charlie's verdict. Tearful, he cried, "Thank you, Mr. Wade! Thank you! I won’t forget your kindness!'
Charlie replied with an indifferent hum and nodded nonchalantly. "I won’t make you two pay the price for the responsibility, but I think you've both mismanaged the Fox family. Once the incident comes to light, the Fox family urgently needs one with a clean background to lead the family out of the crisis. With that said, I think you're both unsuitable to be the head of the Fox family."
Spencer and Jordan froze upon hearing that. Who would have expected Charlie to suddenly change his tune so quickly?
Spencer blurted out, "Mr. Wade... You said that I'm only one percent to be blamed for this terrible incident. This is almost negligible, so it shouldn’t be a big issue, right?”
Charlie frowned. In response, he asked,' What? Do you think one percent isn't a big thing? Besides, do you think this is the only wrong you’ve committed? Did you forget how you forcefully snatched power away from your father? Did you forget how you sent your men after his life? If I didn't order the Ten Thousand Armies to protect him, he would've ended up dead! Perhaps I should announce this to the world too. Let's see how your average American will comment about this."
