Thinking about it now, Charlie didn't have time to cover up his traces in the restaurant before.
He was on the second floor of the restaurant when he heard about Keith's critical illness. Right after, he requested Quinn to take the Healing Pill to Los Angeles and save his grandfather. Everything had been decided in a hurry.
If Christian checked Quinn's itinerary before and after arriving in Los Angeles, there was no doubt he would pay attention to Janus’s restaurant.
Janus could see Charlie's helplessness. He knew what Charlie was thinking, and comforted Charlie. "It was a life and death situation. You had no other better
alternatives. Fortunately, your uncle shouldn't have noticed your existence.”
Charlie's voice shook slightly when he replied, "I went to your shop with Nana. He'll probably recognize me if he has the shop's surveillance video. I guess Merlin sent someone to get the surveillance video here because he wanted to know who came with Nana, and to find out what's so special about this place."
Janus then said with a small smile, "You don't have to worry about that. Oskiatown doesn't have many surveillance cameras. There used to be a lot of them around, but they were all smashed by thugs after installation. The enforcers simply stopped installing them. Fortunately, there are no surveillance cameras outside my store’s main entrance. There's one at the store opposite us, but they can't record my store clearly due to the angle.”
He went on, "When we opened a store here, we didn't dare to put the camera outside. Generally, the outermost camera will be installed atop the inner door. It’s supposed to be angled down in order to record the shop's whole interior. But the camera slants forty-five degrees down, so at most, it can record the shop's sidewalk. It won't be able to record any cars passing by, or even the opposite shop. You don’t have to worry, Mr. Wade."
Charlie nodded upon hearing that. "That would be best."
Janus found himself feeling a little melancholy as he said, "Mr. Wade... If you don’t want to expose yourself, you shouldn't come to my shop anymore. Your uncle and Merlin have their eyes on this place. They'll definitely pay more attention to me in the future." "True," Charlie nodded. His voice was grim. "I won't be coming to New York anytime soon after Nana's concert tomorrow. The city looks grand on the outside, but it hides so much darkness inside. I don't know how many dirty deeds are hidden behind the glory of Wall Street. Unfortunately, I don’t have a good impression of this place."
Charlie said indifferently, "Janus, he’s just one man. I don't care about Shawn Long from Hong Kong. If you so desire, I’ll solve this for you.”
Janus stood and put his hands together, pleased. "Mr. Wade, I know you're very powerful. Shawn isn’t your opponent at all."
However, he added with shame, "But I'm a man of my words! I’m not afraid of death, but I'm unwilling to be one who goes back on his words. So, please don't threaten Shawn over this. He has kept his promise and stopped attempting to kill me. Thus, I should keep my promise and never return to Hong Kong."
Charlie was slightly taken aback. Janus was indeed an upright man with a strong moral code, but his morality was set so high that he would hurt no one but himself.
