“Jennifer, please refrain from speaking nonsense. Father is already distressed enough.” Jacques quickly gave his sister a stern look, signaling for her to watch her words.
“She’s right. If I had listened earlier, Mr. Freddie wouldn’t have gotten hurt.” Tyler stood up and shifted his gaze towards Jared.
He had always been wary of Jared and his gang, fearing that they would seize the treasure he had discovered.
However, even though the Summers family were the first to discover this treasure, they simply did not have the ability to obtain it.
“Mr. Summers, Mr. Chance has the ability to discern the arcane array from outside, and that proves he truly possesses genuine skills,” Freddie stated.
The art of forming arcane arrays was ever- changing and unpredictable. It was nearly impossible to anticipate what might happen next unless one personally set up the arcane array or stepped foot in it.
However, Jared was able to predict that Freddie would get injured by observing the arcane array from outside. This proved Jared’s understanding of arcane arrays to be superior to theirs.
Tyler nodded. At this point, he had no choice but to admit that Jared indeed had some real skills.
“My friend, I wonder if you would join us in breaking the arcane array. We are willing to share a portion of the treasure we find,” Tyler humbly asked, setting aside his pride.
“Why should I join forces with you when I can break it myself? Why should I let you guys be a part of it? You want me to share the treasure with you, huh?” Jared asked with a faint smile.
Jared remained calm in the face of the furious Jacques. He smiled. “The overall level in terms of arcane array and charm skills is extremely low in the entire Ethereal Realm, not to mention the southern region.
“In the Ethereal Realm, where combat skills are revered and magecraft is disdained, everyone aspires to become immortals, scoffing at the idea of arcane arrays and charms, leading to an extremely low level of proficiency in these arts.” Jared’s words left everyone in the Summers family stunned. They then fell into complete silence.
What Jared said was the truth. The Ethereal Realm used to produce plenty of talented individuals, but later on, the status of cultivators who specialized in arcane arrays and charms became lower, and their progress in cultivation slowed down, causing them to be looked down upon by others.
Not just experts in arcane arrays and charms, even alchemists were positioned at the bottom of the social ladder. As a result, many cultivators in the Ethereal Realm began to abandon the practice of alchemy as well as arcane arrays and charms, focusing all their energy on increasing their cultivation level.
Over the course of several millennia, the number of cultivators proficient in the art of arcane arrays and charms gradually dwindled, as well as alchemists. Following the decline of these cultivators, their importance slowly became more pronounced.
