The Medallion novel Chapter 1415

"I told you that I'm from the countryside. I just lived in a small village since I was a child, and I've never been to any big city until now. That's why I'm not really familiar with how rules and systems are being implemented in this kind of place." Rocky immediately found a plausible excuse so that Tessa would ease her suspicion.

"Well, no wonder." After hearing what Rocky had said, Tessa eventually believed him.

"Um, is Tessa your name?" Rocky asked. He had already heard people mention her name, but he just wanted to directly hear it from her.

"Yes, that's right. Feel free to just call me by my name. I actually don't like it when others call me Miss Tessa or address me in a very respectful way. It just feels awkward and unnatural," Tessa remarked.

"All right then. Please don't mind if I called you Tessa from now on." The truth was that Rocky was trying to suck up to her on purpose. With his past experiences, he knew that as long as he had good relations with the daughter of the city governor, it would definitely be much easier for him to move freely and take action within the Sword Spirit City.

"Hey! How dare you address Miss Tessa so casually?!" The disciples of the Sword Spirit City behind them who heard Rocky were extremely displeased.

"It's okay. I am the one who permits him. After all, he is the only one who managed to save Nightshade's life. We are friends now," Tessa declared without hesitation.

"Really? I'm honored, Miss... I mean Tessa." Rocky let out a satisfied smile.

Seeing this, the disciples guarding Tessa felt envious and hateful towards Rocky. After all, she was one of the most beautiful women in the entire Sword Spirit City—second only to the sect leader's daughter, Hannah Qiu. Countless men were infatuated by her because of her mesmerizing looks and her astounding power as a spirit warrior. Since Rocky could be called her friend and be close to such an amazing person, it would be natural for others to be jealous of him. However, since he did a splendid job of saving Nightshade's life, they couldn't blame the guy for instantly gaining Tessa's trust.

Not long after, they had finally arrived in front of a rather strange building. Half of the structure was an open-air yard, which easily covered an area of about hundreds of square meters. The yard was so pleasant to behold as it was covered with flowers and trees all over, making it a huge luscious garden. On the other hand, the other half was decorated with upturned eaves, colorful sculptures, and red railings, which made the entire building look like an eccentric palace. The two parts didn't seem to complement each other, but overall, it was a uniquely-structured building.

"So, this should be the place where you usually keep Nightshade. Am I right?" Rocky asked as he observed the place for a while.

"That's right. I guess you're really a lot smarter than you look," Tessa said as she let out a faint smile. Then, she turned and addressed the disciples accompanying them, "You may leave us now."

"But Miss Tessa, Captain Ramon specifically asked us to guard you all the time until he comes back. I'm afraid we can't just leave you with this guy alone," one of the disciples responded immediately.

"What are you worrying about? He's just an ordinary beast curer. Do you think that he can do anything to harm me? Even if all of you join hands to fight me, I don't think you can do anything. So, what's the problem?" Tessa asked with a straight face.

Hearing this, none of the disciples could answer. They glanced at each other in embarrassment and didn't know what to say. However, they knew that Ramon would be furious if they disobeyed his command.

"Tessa, they are just doing their jobs and are worried about your safety. Just let them guard outside. Besides, I will just only stay in this yard," Rocky insisted.

"Fine." After being convinced by Rocky, Tessa ordered the disciples, "Go on. All of you can wait outside."

The disciples were still a bit hesitant but they eventually followed and waited outside of the yard.

"You can release Nightshade now," Rocky said as soon as they were already alone in the yard.

Then, Tessa immediately took out the Beast Spirit Jade and released the weakened spiritual beast, which landed in the corner of the yard.

Rocky approached the beast and checked its condition. Although the wound was properly treated, it was still in a very weak state because of losing too much blood.

"Will it be fine? It looks very feeble..." Tessa asked in a worried tone as she couldn't help but notice Nightshade's current condition.

"It's hard to say right now because it is hurt badly. Anyway, I will try my best to save it. May I just ask how it acquired these injuries? It seems like a very powerful spiritual beast, so I was wondering how it ended up like this," Rocky said with furrowed brows as he stared at the spiritual beast.

"It's actually my fault. I insisted on going to the Ghost Valley. Unfortunately, when we arrived there, we encountered a spiritual beast at the King Realm. Nightshade risked its life to protect me and take me out of there with all its might. However, it was severely injured during our escape. If it weren't for its bravery and loyalty, I would have died already," Tessa answered, biting her lip as she reminisced the tragic event.
