The Medallion novel Chapter 1698

"No, I reckon it won't end well for us if we keep fighting head-on. If you trust me, I think the best chance we have of surviving this is if we retreat to the west," Rocky suddenly said as he shook his head.

"Isn't the west a dead end?" Vivian asked after she took a glance at the direction.

"Since the topographic map was drawn by the reconnaissance team while they were trapped in an illusion, it can't be accurate! If my guess is correct, that dead-end is likely to be the real exit. Come on, let's give it a shot! Even if I'm wrong, we'll be in a better position to fend off the attacks since we can fix our defensive ranks there. It's miles better than the current situation we're in..." Rocky analyzed calmly.

Upon hearing his words, Vivian found herself staring at Rocky in awe. She didn't expect he would be so level headed while in such a dangerous situation. It was apparent this wasn't his first time staring at death's doors.

Speechless, Valeria also had her eyes locked on Rocky.

"Miss Vivian, we don't have much time." While they were lost in thought, the Diabolic Flaming Wolves had slowly crept up on them, ready to pounce at any moment.

"Everyone, listen to me. Move to the west." After taking everything into consideration, Vivian knew she had no better choice than to trust Rocky's decision.

As soon as they heard her command, the troops wasted no time and began marching westwards.

A calm breeze greeted them when they arrived at the west side of the valley, lifting their spirits.

"There's wind!" Vivian's beautiful eyes immediately lit up since it meant that they were heading in the right direction.

"Sure enough, we are still trapped in the illusory trick," Rocky murmured as he narrowed his eyes.

As soon as she heard this, Vivian instantly unleashed a stream of her spiritual power, breaking the illusory scene in front of them, revealing a fork road ahead.

But at the same time, the wolves had caught on with them, killing several men at the front lines.

She knew well enough that their enemies wouldn't allow them to leave just like that. And so, she called out two warriors at the Emperor Realm and asked them to pick a dozen elite members to hold back the wolves while the rest retreated to safety.

"Valeria, you lead the rest to safety," Vivian said.

"Are you not coming with us?" Valeria asked with a worried frown.

"These wolves are not easy to deal with. I have to stay and fight them," she answered in a determined tone. As the leader of this army, she knew it was her duty to fight with her men to ensure their lives and safety.

"Then be careful!" Valeria said in a hurry. She then led everyone towards the fork road, desperate to get as much distance between them and the wolves.

If the wolves caught up with them, she knew it would surely spell the end for everyone.

After a few hundred meters, Rocky suddenly stopped in his tracks and said, "Make sure to bring them all to the exit and form your ranks there. I'll be back as soon as I can."

"Why? Where are you going?" Valeria asked immediately.

"I don't think Miss Vivian has the strength to fend off the wolves on her own. I have to help them," Rocky said with a grim face.

"Stop. I'll go. I'm better suited to help them," Valeria said. She didn't think it would be of much help if Rocky was the one who went back.
