"How dare you talk to me like that? Don't you know who I am? I'm..." Angered, Gloria was about to reveal her true identity.
"I'm sorry sirs, but did my wife and assistant offend you?" Rocky immediately cut her off and winked at her and Valeria.
This slapped some sense into them, and they immediately stopped talking.
"Wife? You are married!" Holden, the young master who sat in the nearby table, exclaimed in surprise.
"If there isn't anything else, we are leaving now." Rocky wanted to leave as soon as possible to avoid any more trouble that might lead to their identities being exposed. And so, he took the two and made his way to the door.
"Wait!" Holden shouted as he suddenly stood up.
"Is there anything else?" Rocky asked, looking sideways.
"Where did you come from? What are you doing here?" From the start, Holden was wary of their identities, so he began questioning them.
"We come from the south and are making our way up north to visit our relatives when we stumbled upon this city," Rocky replied calmly.
"Visiting relatives? Who are you going to visit?" Holden didn't let up and continued to ask.
"My cousin..."
"Which clan is your cousin from?" Holden was still persistent.
"I'm sorry, but that matter has nothing to do with you," Rocky said sternly. He could tell that Holden was deliberately making things difficult for him.
"And why is that? This border city is under the jurisdiction of our Sovereign Pavilion. Our Young Master Holden has every right to question those who seem suspicious!" the man in brocade clothes chimed in.
"Oh, I see! Are you going to arrest and interrogate us?" Rocky sneered back.
"It depends on whether or not you cooperate! I want her to take off her veil now..." Holden said while pointing at Valeria. He was eager to see her face.
"My wife is not beautiful, so she uses the veil to cover her face. If she takes it off, you might be offended," Rocky said.
"I'm not afraid of anything. Take it off now, or you three won't be able to leave the city," Holden threatened.
Facing such a predicament, Rocky narrowed his eyes to think of any other options. If Valeria didn't do as she was ordered, he knew Holden would not give up. But if she removed the veil, it would only spell them even more trouble.
So he took a look at Valeria and thought for a moment. He then suddenly raised the corners of his mouth and said, "Since you are so interested in my wife's appearance, I will let you have a look." He calmly made his way to Valeria.
Valeria frowned, wondering whether Rocky would actually remove her veil.
"Dear, I'm sorry." Rocky flashed her a reassuring look as he reached out his hand to take off her veil. Valeria hesitated for a moment, but she knew she had to trust him.
The moment Rocky took it off, Valeria felt a cold wind brush against her warm face.
Then, Rocky moved away from Valeria, showing her face.
Holden and his followers were at the edge of their seats. They carefully examined every inch of her face. After only a few moments, they began to feel extremely nauseated.
Valeria's face turned completely ugly. Her eyes were as small as tiny slits, her nose was short and flat, her face was disfigured with pockmarks, and a large, disgusting mole was at the edge of her mouth.
Even Gloria couldn't help but burst into laughter.
If Valeria saw her face now, she would surely be angry at Rocky.
"Put on the veil quickly." Holden couldn't stand the sight of her face and hurriedly waved his hand.
