The moment Faye hit send, she regretted it. She realized she had no grounds to call out Logan.

Their relationship wasn't at that level.

She wasn't sure if Logan had seen the message, but figured it was better to act as if it never happened rather than let it linger in their chat.

Without a second thought, she withdrew the message.

When Logan emerged from the shower, all he saw was "This message was retracted." He had no clue what Faye had sent, but it left him feeling uneasy.

Faye was lost in thought when a simple question mark pinged on her screen, inflating her irritation.

"Sent the wrong thing."

Logan didn't reply.

He lay in bed, a turmoil of thoughts preventing sleep. Their connection, it seemed, was veering off the path he'd envisioned. But why?

Gazing out at the moon, its light failed to clarify his muddled feelings.

Logan, sporting dark circles under his eyes from a restless night, headed to the hospital.

Their paths crossed as usual, but Logan pretended not to notice Faye's presence.

After a night of reflection, he concluded it was time to let go. His presence seemed only to cause her trouble.

Faye felt his cold distance, unsure of the cause yet maintaining a polite facade under the watchful eyes of their colleagues.

In the elevator, Dr. Pendleton, on an early shift as usual, was the first to greet them.

"Logan, did you pull an all-nighter? Those are some serious bags under your eyes," he noted.

Faye glanced over, noticing the truth in Dr. Pendleton's observation.

"Just got caught up reviewing some patient files," Logan responded, maintaining courtesy.

Concerned about his day ahead, Dr. Pendleton pressed on, but Logan excused himself, rushing off for his rounds.

Dr. Pendleton's curiosity was piqued by Logan's hasty departure and the unusual silence between him and Faye.

"Something's up," Dr. Pendleton mused, catching Faye's eye with a 'spill-the-beans' look.

Faye fell silent, recalling Logan's urgent demeanor.

"How did you find out?" she asked, her voice low.

Dr. Pendleton recounted the events, unaware of the impact her words had on Faye.

Faye had a hunch about what she needed to do, cutting off Dr. Pendleton's endless chatter, "Let's head to work, or we'll be late and say goodbye to the perfect attendance bonus for this month."

Leading the way, Faye was closely followed by Dr. Pendleton who couldn't help but comment, "You're clearly not strapped for cash, why the fuss over a little attendance bonus?"

Despite her initial resolve, Faye couldn't resist popping into the convenience store they passed by. She had overslept that morning and didn’t have time to whip up breakfast. Given her shift wouldn’t end until 11 PM, grabbing something to eat seemed wise.

As she lingered in the bakery section, Faye inevitably picked up a bagel, prompting Dr. Pendleton to question her choices, “Faye, you've grabbed a breakfast burrito and now a bagel, plus two coffees? Are you really that hungry today?"

Faye didn't respond, just paid for her items and continued on. It wasn't until she was packing up one set of her purchases into a paper bag in their department that the reason for her buying two of everything became clear.

"Holy smokes, are you having an epiphany? Planning to surprise Logan with breakfast?” Dr. Pendleton's excitement was palpable.
