When Logan and Faye were about to capture their moment together, the camera decided to bail on them. Their perfectly posed moment washed away in an instant. Adding to the misfortune, all phones were stacked away in a pile, making Faye miss her chance to get a snapshot with Logan.
Had it not been for that moment of betrayal by technology, perhaps they too would be reminiscing over a photo filled with memories, rather than Faye envying the snapshots of Logan with others.
Faye's gloom was as clear as day, so much so that even Logan, engrossed in his medical reports, couldn't help but notice.
Without making it obvious, Logan glanced up, catching Faye's gaze fixated on a particular spot on his desk.
Following her line of sight, Logan immediately grasped the situation.
She couldn't have found out, could she?
A perilous thought crossed his mind, and he instinctively blocked her view with his body.
Before Faye could get a clear look, a blur of white engulfed her vision, and upon looking up again, all she saw was Logan's earnest face.
Logan, feeling uneasy, handed over the reports and started, “These are the figures you need to be cautious of. Don't go overboard; the patient won't be able to handle it. While adhering to the standard dosage, you can adjust according to individual cases, but the figures you've chosen are way off.”
Faye found herself lost in the movement of Logan's lips, clearly not absorbing his words.
Logan, realizing she wasn't paying attention, meticulously annotated the report with explanations and emergency procedures to prevent any further mishaps.
After Faye scribbled all over the pristine report and Logan reviewed it once more, he placed it in front of her, “Alright, I've checked it. You can go back to rehearsing now.”
Logan's words snapped Faye back to reality.
“Make sure the interns get a chance to practice as well, for a better outcome next time. Any questions?”
“No, thanks, Logan. I’ll be off then.” Faye couldn't bear the thought of staying any longer, wishing for a hole to swallow her up.
Logan knew it wasn't the right moment to say anything as he watched her leave.
Only when her footsteps faded did Logan reach for his now-cold breakfast, tearing into it without a word.
