The Million-Dollar Heart (Percival and Vivienne) novel Chapter 1177

Dr. Abernathy frowned as he faced the elderly woman suddenly entangled in his day, "Ma'am, my expertise isn't exactly at the level of leading surgeries. I'd advise you to follow the hospital's protocols."

Though he hated to admit he wasn't as skilled as Logan, he knew his knowledge in design wasn't something to be arrogant about. More importantly, he didn't want his reputation tarnished by a stubborn old lady.

He had been the first to notice someone filming the ordeal. Being pointed out by her was as good as having your name written in the book of death. Whoever she pointed at, metaphorically died!

"Are you saying you're not in on this together?!" Mrs. Johnson shrieked, "You just want him to kill my son, my flesh and blood!"

Logan, checking on the patient's status, knew arguing would only delay the crucial treatment period.

Soon, Logan gave Dr. Abernathy a look, "If Dr. Abernathy is even 50% sure, then proceed. Any more delays and amputation might become the only option."

Mrs. Johnson, horrified at the thought, persisted in her rant, leaving Dr. Abernathy with no choice but to agree.

He followed the hospital director, pleading, "I really can't take this case, Director. It's not within my department's responsibilities. I don't even have a 10% confidence level!"

Dr. Abernathy's panic made the director impatient, cutting him off, "Don't worry about it. In the end, Logan will lead. You just need to be there."

Relieved it wasn't his responsibility, Dr. Abernathy felt a weight lift off his shoulders.

In the OR, Logan's serious voice commanded, "Administer the anesthesia, half dose."

The room fell silent except for the beeping of machines and Logan's requests for tools.

Two hours into the surgery, the door remained shut, and the elderly woman paced anxiously outside.

Faye glanced at her, emotionless. Dealing with such relatives was a nightmare. Most avoided them, but she somehow got dragged into this mess.

The intern nearby was too scared to speak, relieved that neither Faye nor Logan blamed her for the situation.

Noticing the intern, Faye approached, "You can go back. This isn't something you need to worry about."

As Faye continued to stand guard, the intern wanted to say more but only saw Faye's retreating back.

Hiding in the bathroom, the intern's fears magnified in the cramped space, and suppressed sobs filled the room.

The video of the incident spread like wildfire online, sparking fierce debates in the comments.
