Fortunately, Edmund listened to her well enough that he immediately dropped his smile.
Without it, his face would look scary, but somehow, he looked even more intimidating and a little ... predatory when he smiled.
"That’s better, Your Majesty," Primrose said, clapping her hands once. "You can practice more later."
Not long after that, Edmund decided to leave the greenhouse. But just before he pushed open the glass door, he suddenly turned around and asked her a favor.
"Wife, even though you said my smile is good enough, I still feel like it looks terrible. Would you mind teaching me how to smile properly?"
It turned out that the Lycan King was aware his smile was awful, so terrible that even the little rabbits he encountered in the forest would instantly run away.
They acted like Edmund was about to tear them apart and eat their flesh straight from their lifeless bodies.
Honestly, it felt like Edmund would never learn how to smile properly unless Primrose taught him herself.
But ... wasn’t that kind of weird?
What kind of queen gives smiling lessons to a beast?!
If she actually pulled it off, maybe she should open a class and force all the beasts in the palace to attend it.
"I can do that," Primrose said with a nod, giving him the sweetest smile. "People say the morning light can lift our mood, so how about we start tomorrow morning?"
Edmund didn’t even think twice. "Alright," he said.
Then, he stepped out of the greenhouse with the Celestial Heart Gemstones in his hand.
Primrose saw a soldier trying to help Edmund carry the gemstones, but Edmund immediately refused his offer because he didn’t want anyone to touch the precious gemstone for his wife. Hence, he wanted to hand them over to the jeweler himself.
What a loyal puppy.
After watching him walk away, Primrose turned to a soldier and asked him to let Salem know that she and the king wanted to see him in the receiving room before dinner.
"Your Majesty, are you sure it’s alright to let Sir Vesper talk to His Majesty?" Solene asked, looking a little worried. "Even though he hasn’t caused any trouble lately ... he’s still kind of rude to people, especially nobles."
Kind of rude? He was so rude that no one even wanted to be in the same room with him.
At least, that was what Solene had told her.
When Solene first introduced Salem to Primrose, it wasn’t because they were close or anything. Salem was just a poison expert who used to work in the same barracks as Solene back in the day.
His background was a mystery, and maybe only a few people truly knew anything about it. Even Solene wasn’t sure if Salem was his real name.
Still, judging from the way he acted, most people believed he was some rich young master who got kicked out by his family, or maybe tossed into the real world on purpose to fix his terrible attitude.
Primrose didn’t really care either way.
As long as Salem was useful to her, that was all that mattered.
"We’re talking about His Majesty the King," Primrose said calmly. "Only a fool would dare act up in front of him."
And she wasn’t wrong at all.
Salem sat politely, his back straightening the second Edmund took his seat.
