The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 53

Chapter 53: Not a Princess Tea Party (II)

However, she had no idea if the noble ladies of the Beast Kingdom shared the same tastes. For all she knew, they might have completely different customs, or maybe they drank tea with raw meat on the side instead of pastries.

Okay, that was probably too much.

Still, it wasn’t like she had ever been invited to a tea party here before.

Primrose ate the cake just like she always did during snack time, but maybe it was because Edmund had instructed the maids to prepare everything based on human customs—tea, delicate pastries, and all the usual refined treats.

As she was lost in thought, Solene clapped her hands again. "Would you like me to help with that as well, Your Majesty? I could have the royal chef prepare a sample menu for you to try!"

"That would be wonderful," she said with a smile.

"Excellent!" Solene said, "I’ll take care of it right away!"

She gave a quick curtsy before hurrying off with the energy of a woman on a holy mission. The second the door shut behind her, Primrose dropped her elegant posture and let out an exhausted sigh.

This was too much.

Who knew planning a simple tea party would feel like preparing for war?

She had gotten used to being a host for tea parties, but she had no idea that preparing one for the beasts would pressure her so much.

Maybe it was because she wanted everything to be perfect.

Even though Primrose always said she didn’t care what people thought about her, deep down, of course it still stung a little when people didn’t like her or talked badly about her, whether out loud or just in their heads.

She let out a sigh and leaned her head back against the chair. "I guess being the Sleeping Beauty wasn’t so bad after all."

Who would’ve thought she’d actually miss those days when all she did in the palace was lie in bed, eat, gossip, read books, and do whatever she wanted?

But then again, doing nothing could also make her feel depressed without reason from time to time.

She just had to hold on a little longer, perhaps her life would get better if she succeeded to win the hearts of these noble ladies.

Primrose immediately straightened her back and took out the list of noble ladies she would invite to her tea party.

Since this was her very first tea party in the Noctvaris kingdom, she planned to invite as many noble women as possible.

Not because she wanted to be friends with everyone—far from it actually—but because she needed to figure out who could become her allies and who she should avoid for the rest of her life.

Unfortunately, there was one problem: She still couldn’t read too many minds at once without ending up with a splitting headache.

That’s why Primrose often locked herself in the bedroom or avoided people in the palace whenever she felt too overwhelmed by her mind-reading ability.

She tapped her fingers on the paper in front of her and murmured, "Maybe ten is enough for now?"

Deep down, she knew ten wasn’t much. But if she pushed herself to handle more people, she might not be able to keep up with the conversations, especially if her head started pounding halfway through.

For now, it was better to focus on quality over quantity.

Once she got used to the mental strain or at least the headaches, she could start inviting more ladies next time. freēwebnovel.com
