The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 55

Chapter 55: The Queen’s Little Act

Primrose froze in her seat.

Would he really go that far?

She knew he could be ruthless and cold-hearted, at least when it came to anyone who wasn’t his wife.

But still ... would Edmund truly wipe out an entire tribe just because a few of them had done something unforgivable?

She closed her eyes for a moment and let out a soft breath. What did she really know about beast culture, anyway?

At the end of the day, she couldn’t apply her own morals to them because their world was too different.

She had once heard that a beast tribe wasn’t just a group of people, it was a big family.

And in families like that, no one acted alone.

If someone crossed a line, it likely meant the others let it happen ... or even supported it.

In other words, maybe it wasn’t just a few individuals behind today’s attack, maybe the entire tribe was involved.

"His Majesty will return after he investigates everything thoroughly," the soldier said gently. "You don’t have to worry about him, Your Majesty."

Edmund returned to the palace after the sun had set, when most people were already lying in their beds, ready to sleep.

Primrose, however, was still wide awake. She had taken refuge in the library, hoping that reading might help her fall asleep. Since she planned to stay late, she told the librarian to just leave the key with her so he wouldn’t have to wait around.

The large library felt especially quiet that night. The only sounds were the soft crackling of firewood in the fireplace and the gentle hiss of the oil lamp flickering beside her.

She leaned her head on one hand, while the other lazily flipped through the pages of a book.

Her eyes were on the words, but her thoughts were scattered, half with the book, half with Edmund.

Not long after, she suddenly heard the faint sound of hooves approaching the front gate.

Even though the library was far from the palace gate, she could still catch the distant noise of a horde of horses entering the palace grounds.

Primrose tapped her fingers against the paper, trying her best to ignore the sound of the horses getting closer.

Still, she couldn’t help but feel curious, what exactly had Edmund done to resolve the incident with the tribe?

But if she asked him directly, wouldn’t he just brush it off or try to hide it from her?

Sure, she could always rely on her ability to read his mind, but honestly, what was the point of getting married if her own husband couldn’t trust her enough to tell her things on his own?

The truth was, Primrose wanted more than just answers.

She wanted to build something with Edmund, not just a romantic relationship, but a real partnership.

She wanted him to believe that she could handle matters of the kingdom just as well as anyone else.

That way, she wouldn’t have to struggle to find out what was going on around her, as if she were an outsider in her own home.
