The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68: The King’s Awkward Proposal

"I trust you," Primrose said firmly. "I know you’ll catch me if I fall."

For a moment, neither of them said a word. Edmund stood frozen, completely overwhelmed by her answer. His head felt like it was spinning, like a sudden storm had blown through his mind.

Even without reading his thoughts, Primrose could easily tell that she had just completely defeated the mighty Lycan King’s heart. She could almost see him wanting to kneel in front of her right then and there.

"I will catch you," Edmund finally said, his voice soft but full of determination. "I’ll always catch you, no matter how high you fall."

Even if she were to fall from the sky itself, Edmund would surely do everything in his power to catch her.

Primrose bit back a small chuckle. There was no doubt about it now that Edmund was absolutely smitten with her.

A cold breeze swept past them, making Primrose shiver slightly. Without a word, Edmund took off his cloak and gently draped it over her shoulders.

"You’ll get sick if you stay out here any longer," he said gently. "Go back to your room and get some rest."

[I actually wanted to surprise her earlier by leaving my gift at her door.]

[But since she’s outside now, I can’t do that anymore. Maybe I’ll leave it tomorrow morning ... but what if a maid finds it first?]

Surprise? What surprise was Edmund trying to prepare for her this time?

Primrose hadn’t even given him the simple gift she had prepared, yet he was already planning something new for her.

Lowering her eyes, she suddenly noticed something. Edmund’s right hand had been inside his pocket the whole time, holding onto something tightly, like he was just waiting for the right moment to give it to her.

At this point, Primrose knew she wouldn’t be able to sleep unless Edmund gave her the surprise right now.

"What’s that, Your Majesty?" she asked softly, pointing at the hand he kept inside his pocket. "Are you trying to take something out?"

Edmund’s eyes widened in panic. [How could she notice something that small?!]

[What do I do? Should I just say I’m getting candy?]

[But ... maybe I should just give it to her now?]

[As long as she doesn’t know I was planning to surprise her tonight, it still counts as a surprise, right?]

Yes, please do that or Primrose might end up tossing and turning all night, wondering what her husband was hiding from her.

"This ..." Edmund began, his voice unsure. His hand moved as if it wanted to come out of his pocket, but then hesitated and went back inside. "I... I wanted to give you something."

[Screw it,] he thought. [Just give it to her and let her decide if it’s good or not.]

Finally, Edmund pulled out a small emerald-colored velvet box. The box was decorated with gold accents, making it look both elegant and luxurious.

Oh.

Primrose blinked a few times, already sensing what was inside.

It was something she had secretly been waiting for these past few days.

She was waiting for it, waiting for it to slide onto her finger before holding her tea party.
