“Hazel, you can’t just throw accusations around like that. Who are you calling a thief?” 

Hazel glared coldly at Emily. “You know exactly what I’m talking about, Emily. After you left my house last night, my diamond necklace went missing. That necklace is worth millions! You’re the only one who had it on, so stop pretending. Give it back, you thief!” 

That necklace? Emily knew full well that Hazel had taken it back herself. Hazel was clearly playing the victim in her own game. 

“Hazel, how could you accuse me like this? There were plenty of people at your party last night. How can you be so sure it was me?” 

Hazel shot back, “Because I only let you wear the necklace, and I was the only one who took you to my room. Before you left, the necklace was safely sitting in my room, and then it just vanished. So, if it wasn’t you, who else could it have been? You’re the only one who touched it!” 

Hazel’s voice grew louder as her accusations piled on. “I can’t believe you would steal from me, Emily. You’d better hand over my necklace right now, or I’ll call the police and have you thrown in jail.” 

Jail? 

I’ve already explained I didn’t steal her diamond necklace, so why is she still trying to pin the blame on me? As more and more students gathered around, Emily’s face flushed with embarrassment. 

“Why are you all staring at me like that? I’ve said it already–I didn’t steal Hazel’s necklace. Sure, I went to her room and tried it on, but she took it back almost immediately. If it’s missing, Hazel must have forgotten where she put it.” 

Emily stood her ground, her voice steady despite the growing attention. “Whether you believe me or not, I didn’t take Hazel’s necklace. My brother may not be a billionaire, but he could still afford to buy me a diamond necklace. So, why would I go to all the trouble to steal Hazel’s?”
