Chapter 259 The One Who Truly Matters
"Do you think something might have happened to Samantha? Perhaps she went out and got hit by a car?"
Finley and Daphne were speechless.
"Elias!"
Noting Daphne's distressed demeanor, Elias spoke with a concerned tone, "Ms. Stuart, just consider it for a moment. What I mentioned is not entirely implausible, is it? Accidents happen every day. If Samantha were one of those unfortunate souls, it wouldn't be such an extraordinary occurrence, would it?"
Daphne observed Finley's expression darkening further. She swiftly raised her hand and delivered a couple more smacks to Elias. "Elias, shut up, will you? Must you always speak so poorly of Mrs. Dean? And just because she isn't answering her phone doesn't necessarily mean she's been in an accident. Her phone might be broken, or perhaps she's upset with Mr. Dean and has blocked him, choosing to ignore him."
"In truth," she continued, her tone softening with a touch of conviction, "Mrs. Dean truly cares for Mr. Dean. If there's any woman in the world who loves him the most, it has to be her!"
Elias shook his head. "Ms. Stuart, you're mistaken. If there's a woman in this world who cares about Finley the most, it certainly isn't Samantha."
Daphne's brow furrowed in confusion. "If it's not Mrs. Dean, then who is it?"
"His mother," he replied with an air of certainty.
As expected, he had a knack for saying the most inappropriate things.
Did he not realize the gravity of his words? Daphne's eyes flashed with anger as she stared at him. "Elias, what on earth has gotten into you lately? Your every word seems more unbearable than the last! Don't you know that in the Dean Family, the one subject we never broach is Mr. Dean's parents?"
Elias blinked innocently. "I was merely attempting to ease the awkwardness of the situation."
"You know what? Spare us from your attempts at easing the tension. Just be quiet!"
Elias nodded solemnly. "Understood. I'll keep quiet."
Standing aside, he watched as Finley rose from the couch. Before Elias could utter a word, Finley had already headed for the door. Daphne hurried after him, asking, "Mr. Dean, where are you going?"
