Amy voiced her concern, “Mom, no one can ever predict Samantha’s next move. You have to stay prepared because she could come after us at any moment.”
Prepared? Was Amy out of her mind?
Holly groaned in frustration. “Divorcing Dale is not going to stop Samantha from getting her revenge then.”
“What do we do now, Mom?”
“What choice do we have? Either we kill Samantha, or we find someone powerful enough to protect us.”
Holly’s eyes gleamed with a deadly intent.
Amy instantly realized what her mother was suggesting. “Mom, murder costs money. We are flat broke.”
“We do not have money now, but that does not mean we will not have any soon. The first thing we need to do is find someone powerful to back us up. Once we have that, finding the money to get rid of Samantha will be easy.”
A protector…
Noah’s face immediately popped into Amy’s mind.
“Noah!”
Noah had no idea he was about to be pulled into a scheme. At that moment, he was at Finley’s office, signing a contract he had once dreamed of. Yet now, he did not want to go through with it. Signing it would put his company on the edge of bankruptcy.
As Noah sat across from Finley, watching him scribble his signature, he blurted out, “Mr. Dean, about this contract… Perhaps we should rethink it?”
Finley did not even bother to look up. He finished signing and slid the contract across the table. “Mr. Hunter, I am a man of my word. Since your company won the bid, I am going to sign this, no matter what. I have already signed my part. Now, it is your turn.”
To Noah, the contract felt like a scorching hot iron. He did not want to touch it.
“Mr. Dean, I am honored that my bid was successful. However, the price you originally set and the bid I submitted are worlds apart. If I agree to invest 50 billion in this land, I will be bankrupt.
“On top of that, my company has other projects on the go. I cannot afford to sink everything into this one deal. I have thought long and hard about it, Mr. Dean. just cannot sign this contract.
In truth, he was terrified to sign.
