CHAPTER 11: The Real Poison
"YOU'RE FUCKING kidding me. This is not the right time to play around, Calyx. Don't fucking test me," Alpha Karius said sharply to Calyx after dropping the news about Lilian. No, she's not yet dead. What the hell is he talking about? That's impossible!
Calyx sighed. "I hope I'm just kidding, but I'm not. You know me damn well, Alpha Karius," he said weakly. Calyx is not really not the type to play around. And he's always telling the truth to Alpha Karius, but it was really hard to believe him.
Alpha Karius brushed his palm on his face in frustration when he felt like he's about to tear up. He shook his head aggressively. "I will not believe you unless you show me the wolf that I asked to look over her. I'm sure he could tell Lilian's whereabouts right now."
"That's another problem. I can't find that wolf anymore but I asked the wolves in your mansion when the chaos happened. Some of them are familiar with Lilian so they knew it was her that had been punished by Gianna," Calyx said coldly. "But for your peace of mind, I will still find that wolf to confirm Lilian's situation right now."
Alpha Karius let out a deep breath before nodding his head. No, that's not real, right? Lilian is not yet... dead. He's just dreaming. Right. He should wake up in this nightmare now! But inside him, he could feel how his heart shattered into pieces the moment Calyx told him that Lilian didn't make it. It feels like he couldn't breathe anymore and the only thing that could ease his pain is to see Lilian... alive and breathing.
That night, Alpha Karius spent his time looking at the sky, silently praying to the Goddess that Lilian is okay and well... that she's in a good hand right now, wherever she is right now.

THE NEXT MORNING, Alpha Karius went to his mansion to continue visiting those wolves who were injured yesterday, even though he doesn't really want to since that means he will see Gianna again. She still pissed him off. He's not sure anymore what he will do to her once he sees her.
"How's everything here?" He asked Calyx. Calyx arrived first at the mansion and Alpha Karius couldn't be more thankful to him since the truth is, he's not really in good shape right now after what he found out yesterday... about Lilian. Calyx was the one who instructed the wolves and witches to tend to the wolves' needs since he wasn't around awhile ago.
"It's getting better. I already asked some witches who have the ability to heal and they are now on their way here. Some of the wolves that have been really hurt so bad were the Omegas, plus their healings aren't that fast, either."
"Okay. Thanks for your hard work, Calyx," Alpha Kariua genuinely told him as he tapped his shoulders. "What about the other thing that I asked you to do? Did you find the wolf?" He wanted to know where that wolf is to know the truth about Lilian's whereabouts.
Calyx cleared his throat. "Yes, I already found him. I'll take you to him later."
Relief washed over Alpha Karius when he heard Calyx's response. That wolf is the only key if he's going to believe the death of... Lilian. He doesn't want to believe yet unless the wolf will tell him everything.
Alpha Karius busied himself that day with the wolves. And it was a good thing that they are all getting better even though some of them still feel distant to him since they're questioning his capability as the Alpha of the pack. But he's trying to win their trust again. He's working really hard to make things right this time. He just hopes that Gianna won't do something to make everything worse again.
When it was already five in the afternoon, Alpha Karius prepared himself to leave the mansion to meet the wolf that he asked to look over Lilian. Calyx took him to the abandoned house just near his mansion. He went there immediately and Calyx welcomed him with a smug look on his face as his tongue poke his inner cheek while shaking his head.
"T-That time, after you asked me to look over her, I didn't really do it. I intended to not tell you, Alpha Karius, what Mason did to her because I was told to shut up... to not stick my nose on it and not report it to you..."
"Who the fuck told you that?" Alpha Karius asked with his gritted teeth this time and clenching jaw.
"I-It... it was Luna Gianna. She told me that she will give me money in exchange of not telling you what she did to L-Lilian. If I won't obliged, she will do something to my family..." His breathing labored with his eyes welling up with his own tears. "After Mason took her, they humiliated her in front of the pack. Everyone was saying that she should be killed because she was a thief. She was accused of stealing something even though she didn't really do it. I saw her e-escape when the intruders came but... I-I'm not sure if she's still a-alive. I-I'm sorry, Alpha Axel. I was too afraid..."
With his heavy breathings, Alpha Kariua forcefully pulled his own hair again. "Fuck. If you were able to tell me, I could've saved her! Damn it!" He couldn't help but to blame him! If only he was able to tell him, then he would be able to protect her!
Alpha Karius suddenly saw red all over the surroundings. His canines appeared as he punched the face of the man on the face repeatedly until he's bleeding profusely. He let out all his frustrations by punching him too hard but then, Calyx was able to stop him. He tried inhaling deeply as he glanced back at the man again who can't be recognized anymore. His eyes were dropping as he coughed with his own blood.
Sighing deeply, Alpha Karius closed his eyes when realization hits him. No matter how much he blames anyone, it will still be his fault. This will not turn out like this if only he's good at deciding things. Now, he's doubting himself. Maybe they are all right... that he's not really a good Alpha.
"If you want to kill him, then tell me. I would gladly do it for you. Don't taint your hand with that useless wolf," Calyx said seriously as he glared at the bleeding wolf. Alpha Karius was so mad already that he wasn't able to say what he wanted to say again. He only wanted one thing right now.
He wanted to cut his ties from Gianna and their pack. Gianna is obviously the real poison here. He shouldn't have trusted her since the very beginning.
