Chapter 104 Nathaniel’s Inebriated Return
Alexander was audacious, claiming he had long since prepared for the East Sacville development project. In reality, he had exploited her to usurp Nathaniel’s project.
Suddenly, Ms. Lovett’s voice echoed from the foot of the stairs. “Mr. Morgan, welcome home.”
Nathaniel had returned. Freya swiftly shut down the computer and exited the study, only to retreat back
into it.
She secured the door tightly. Glancing at the late–night darkness outside, she noted it was already 1.00 am. This was the most perilous time for Nathaniel to be at Newport Villa.
After a moment, Nathaniel approached the study and forcefully pushed against the door. Freya had taken refuge on the fabric sofa by the window.
In the stillness of the night, even the slightest sound seemed to reverberate. Nathaniel’s voice was slightly slurred, indicating his inebriation.
Alexander’s arrival in Saeville and Jacob’s betrayal of Nathaniel led Freya to surmise that Nathaniel was facing professional challenges. He was likely under immense competitive pressure and had attended numerous meetings.
“Open the door!”
Freya remained motionless. Nathaniel bellowed, “Freya, I know you’re in there! Open the door!”
His voice escalated slightly. Fear gripped Freya. Ever since he had confined her to the villa, she knew his torment was far from over.
“Freya, if you don’t open the door, I’ll break it down, and you’ll learn another lesson.”
Freya hesitated before rising and approaching the door. She inhaled deeply and swung the door open. Nathaniel’s icy, handsome visage met her gaze
Nathaniel reeked of alcohol, and traces of lipstick stained his collar. Freya could envision the decadent scene of his drinking escapade.
“Mr. Morgan?” Freya stepped aside, allowing Nathaniel to stride in.
This room was a study adjacent to the master bedroom. It contained no confidential documents, only some of Freya’s favorite books and an antiquated computer.
The villa’s furnishings remained unchanged. Freya had spent most of her days here, engrossed in books.
Nathaniel sauntered in, slumped onto the fabric sofa, and fixed his gaze on Freya. He appeared somber under the moonlight streaming through the windows.
Freya was clad in the same attire she had worn three years ago, a silk nightgown. As she had lost weight, the gown hung loosely on her.
Freya had a fondness for silk/garments due to their comfort.
Chapter 104 Nathaniel’s inebriated Return
Finished
She was always well–behaved, sitting on the fabric sofa with a book, flipping through magazines while waiting for Nathaniel to wrap up his work. Then, they would retire to bed together.
Nathaniel was diligent, often working until Freya had fallen asleep. She would curl up on the sofa like a cat, sleeping peacefully.
Nathaniel found her adorable demeanor irresistible. He would lift her gently and carry her back to the bedroom to sleep.
Now, Nathaniel observed Freya. The familiar clothes and ambiance contrasted with her unfamiliarity.
