Chapter 119 Witnessing Freya’s Assault
Xavier fell silent. After a brief pause, Hudson entered the room, carrying various items with him.
Hudson was one of Nathaniel’s most competent subordinates, a stark contrast to Koen. He had a slightly sinister appearance and a penchant for informal attire, often sporting eclectic, punk–inspired outfits.
On this occasion, he was clad in red jeans, a yellow plaid shirt adorned with sunflower embroidery, and a hat reminiscent of a cowboy’s.
Hudson’s unconventional demeanor would have led to his dismissal if it weren’t for his exceptional abilities. Nathaniel tolerated his eccentricities because of his undeniable competence.
“Mr. Morgan, I’ve retrieved everything. It wasn’t easy. The informant demanded a hefty sum, but I managed to negotiate. The source was a manager at the women’s prison a few years back, though she was only a temporary employee. She was dismissed after a mishap. I didn’t peruse the contents. I forwarded them to you as soon as I received them.”
Despite his self–assured nature, Hudson was cautious when conversing with Nathaniel.
Since Nathaniel showed interest in the items, he felt obliged to comply.
Nathaniel unzipped the bag, revealing old USB drives, damaged storage devices, and SM cards filled with information.
“Open them.” Nathaniel instructed Xavier, who promptly took the items and settled at a computer desk nearby.
The desk was cluttered with several laptops and various pieces of electronic equipment relocated from his villa, a sight that would give most people a headache.
After Xavier inspected each device, he extracted a video file and turned to Nathaniel. “Nathan, this video file is intact. I can have it ready in a few minutes. Would you like to view it now?”
Nathaniel inhaled deeply. “Yes,”
Xavier began typing. In less than five minutes, he grinned triumphantly and pointed to a file on his laptop. “Alright, it’s ready for viewing.”
He clicked on it. The video was of low quality, evidently recorded surreptitiously with a cheap mobile phone, resulting in a somewhat blurry image.
Despite Xavier’s efforts to repair the file, it was still slightly corrupted. The video began with a black screen, void of any visuals, but filled with audio.
“No! Please! Let me go! Ah!”
A woman’s desperate pleas echoed, followed by the sound of blows and her terrified screams. The chilling voice nearly made Xavier’s blood run cold.
