Chapter 173 Freya’s Deception
Freya was taken aback by Nathaniel’s early return from the office. She had secured special permission to work from home for the next few days.
Ever since Abigail had unexpectedly encountered Freya at the office, and given Abigail’s increased visits to Nathaniel, he found it impossible to continually dismiss his fiancée.
However, the thought of Freya remaining at the company and potentially crossing paths with Abigail again was too daunting for him to consider.
Nathaniel’s only option was to maintain the pretense with Abigail, providing Uncle Michael with some semblance of peace.
He was desperate to avoid any complications.
Upon his return to Newport Villa, he found Freya engrossed in her drafts in the study.
Hearing a knock, she opened the door, meeting Nathaniel’s gentle gaze.
He entered, gently grasping Freya’s wrists and visually inspecting her for any injuries.
Relieved to find her unharmed, his gaze hardened, scrutinizing the woman before him.
Feeling guilty, Freya broke the silence. “I’ve been so consumed by these drafts that I mistakenly microwaved my phone instead of the milk. I apologize for causing you such inconvenience, Nathaniel.”
Nathaniel, still holding her hands, looked at her intently. Tm just relieved you’re not hurt. It’s only a phone, and it was due for a replacement anyway.”
“I’ve already asked Koen to get you a new one.
As Freya expressed her gratitude, Koen entered the study.
Nathaniel handed the new phone to Freya, gently stroking her hair and smiling. “Rest if you’re tired. You’re more important than any draft.”
Freya blushed. She had been unable to resist his affectionate words three years ago, and now…
After comforting her, Nathaniel got into his Maybach parked in the front yard. Koen then drove him back to the office.
There, Koen presented a small cardboard box. It felt slightly warm, containing the deformed phone.
Nathaniel then summoned Xavier into the room.
Xavier glanced at the charred phone, then at Nathaniel.
“Can you repair it and retrieve the data?” Nathaniel gestured towards the unrecognizable device.

Nathaniel’s expression darkened, his slender fingers drumming on the tabletop. “Have you heard of a phone app, something like a word game?”
As winter approached, the temperature in Saeville dropped a few degrees.
Despite the chill, the exhibition hall was bustling, providing a warm respite from the early winter cold.
Nathaniel had never anticipated that what was initially a straightforward deal would take such an unexpected turn.
