Taylor was stunned the moment he heard Jacob’s words and could only look at him in disbelief. His parents passed away in a work accident when he was young. None of his relatives were willing to take in him and his sister back then in their hometown, so they were sent to an orphanage. 

There was a fire outbreak in the orphanage, and only he was saved. His sister was nowhere to be found. Whether she got lost after running out in panic or was kidnapped by someome remained mystery. The fire was out of control, and everything was chaotic in the orphanage. Since the orphanage was in the middle of nowhere, the head warden forgot to count his sister in the final headcount. 

He actually sneaked out of the orphanage to look for his sister, but the human trafficker caught him, forcing him to work in a sweatshop abroad. He was able to work for Nathaniel by chance soon after that. 

Locating his sister had always been a burden for him. Jacob’s words made him think that he actually had some leads. Jacob used to be Nathaniel’s trusted partner, and he had always been a cruel and skilful man, so he assumed that perhaps he had found his sister. So, he composed himself and retreated to a corner. 

Jacob grabbed Freya’s hand, staring at her. He tried to utter something but could not find the right words. Shortly, he pulled her into his embrace forcefully. He was hugging her so tight that he nearly suffocated her. 

“Sorry, it’s my fault, it’s all me,” he muttered, “I should never leave you alone in Saeville, I shouldn’t…” 

“Nathaniel is a scumbag; what did he…” He could not bring himself to continue his sentence. He did not expect 

Nathaniel to be capable of making Freya his lover after what he did to the Gomez family. He was a monster in his eyes. 

Freya smiled and said, “I’ve never blamed you, really!” 

Her words hurt him even more. He promised to protect her from all harm, but things deteriorated so much in a blink of an eye. “Freya, just give me a few more days. I will save you from him. I believe he has a deadly secret. I’ll look into it and your freedom will come sooner than you expected…” 

Hearing his words, she thought of the drive from Sawyer. She knew what Jacob was up to do. 

“Jacob…” She was about to say something when someone approached them. Taylor looked uncomfortable and panicked. 

“Mr. Rivera, I fancy seeing you here!” Nathaniel stopped walking; his face darkened, and his

Nathaniel glared at Jacob in silence. He looked dissatisfied, which worried Freya. She knew him way too well. If he was furious, he would not raise his voice, nor would he throw a fit. Instead, would be eerily quiet.
