Freya muttered, “I’m pretty sure you had a hand in getting Jenny into Alexander’s bed, right? You just said whatever Jenny wanted to hear, just to manipulate her, didn’t you?” 

Maggie’s face changed when she heard that. She was at the brink of snapping, but Freya continued, “I didn’t plan to bring my laptop the other day, but you arranged my table and handed it to me. So I just carried it with me to the lounge. 

“Look, I’m pretty lazy, so I didn’t bother keeping it, and you were responsible in creating an opportunity for Jenny to tamper with my laptop, right?” 

Maggie’s breaths turned labored, as she forced a smile at Freya. “Ms. Freya… You’re so good at making jokes. But I believe you’re smart enough to know that it’s not funny to make up stories!” 

“You’re desperate to scale the corporate ladder, aren’t you?” Freya stared into her eyes. Maggie clenched her fist while they stood in silence for a brief moment before Freya stepped back and patted her shoulder. “Don’t worry, I was just making up scenarios.” 

Maggie looked at her with a complicated expression. Freya sighed and said, “You’re a talented woman. If you truly love to design, pursue it as your dream. Don’t make it political.” 

“Only people with a pure heart can come out with great designs.” 

“And you’re hella smart. I’m too blunt to be your friend! Goodbye!” Freya turned around and entered the lift. Everything happened too fast for Maggie to digest. She could only stare at the elevator in shock. 

Freya arrived at Nathaniel’s office, which was located at the twenty–eighth level. When they were in the car, he asked her to pack her things from the design department and meet him once she was done. She felt like she was a prisoner waiting to be judged, not knowing what was ahead of
